That was never the issue, the Digital CE was always about right with pricing, it was the Physical CE that was Borked in £'s

We're still getting an estimate on when the site will be back online.
We're aware everyone wants to get a CE and will notify you beforehand
Hilarious thing is that it isn't worth $130 to begin with. Looks like you folks are getting screwed harder than we are.
The teaser site for Heavensward was just updated with pre-order details and pricing.
Here's the NA site: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/heavensward/
Note the detailed breakdown on pricing for all editions of the expansion.
Here's the EU site: http://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/heavensward/
Notice the suspicious omission of all pricing details even though they have an entire section dedicated to pricing.
I get the distinct impression they're re-evaluating the pricing for the EU and that is the real reason for the extended downtime on the store.
You watch. If they lower the price of the physical CE to put it more in line to what it should be, but up the price of the Digital CE and stand-alone to compensate.
£129.00 confirmed.

Well, that's me out.
Enjoy getting robbed, anyone who pays that price!
knew that was going to happen, people will complain about the price conversions but at the end of the day the CE will sell out and they know it. A lot of people complained about the london fan fest ticket prices but it was still a massive success.
Lol the free shipping on orders over $100 excludes pre-orders. This unbelievable greed.
What a surprise.
It's worth noting that the 1.0 and 2.0 CEs were much more reasonably priced. This is just taking UK customers for a ride.
Poor show and bad karma SE, I look forward to the day this nonsense bites back.
Just wow. I was used to the dollar to euro conversion being 1:1, but this is a whole new level of economy incompetence.... I wouldn't bought the CE because it's too expensive for me, but british players are getting shafted pretty hard... :(
Not surprised.
Either way, they'll sell out.
This has royally...me off. im a loyal uk customer who orders on SE website. not retailers. for 20 years ive always bought the CE's for their games. i buy their merchandise, (moogle. cactuar plush etc) i even have the delivery moogle on pre order. i have all the blu-ray OST's. both ffxiv 1.0 and 2.0 CE and PS4+3 versions. but this is where i draw the line. I will NOT pay coming up to double the US equivalent of the same game, to lets be fair. the majority of the ffxiv fanbase, just because i live in a different country. we usually have to pay £1-5 more on most things coming from japan. games are always more. but is is taking the cake.
Its ridiculous when CE and standard versions are such a huge difference. compared to other currencies.
Where does it stop? will we have to pay over the top for future games aswell just because we are in the UK and they dislike converting currencies to make a disgraceful profit?
tell me why i should carry on supporting them from the UK when they do this?
Edit - Just adding to this.
Square Enix Store - Delivery Moogle
USD 39.99
EUR 31.99
GBP 27.99
Square Enix Store - FFXIV Heavensward CE.
USD 130.00
EUR 130.00
GBP 130.00
Something is amiss. maybe they should change ALL of their products on the website
I'm on the same boat as many others when i say i will not buy the physical CE. Infact, i'm quite tempted to not even get the digital CE now after all of this shit. Perhaps some of our local retailers will be more willing to shave the price, i'd assume they can manage to do so by importing a lot of EU copies and selling them in the UK.
Thanks for nothing SE. Great to see you rewarded those of us in 1.0 from the UK who stuck with you when the whole WORLD was foreseeing your company's demise by completely shafting us this time. I have the CE for the original game and ARR, i bought a second collectors edition for my brother, I've brought many friends to the game, I've bought from the Mogstation store, I've been happy to throw all my cash at you but... i draw the line here.
I will not be treated like a fool. If you can't be bothered to use proper global currency conversions, then you just won't be getting my currency.
Digital only for me. Thanks for ripping off an entire country.
Also what's up with having to buy the collector's edition seperately for every platform you own the game on? You expect me to buy it twice, once for PC and once for PS4? It's the same account! I already pay a sub fee. Don't be jerks please. :I
Love watching all the dev posts come in and no comment about this rip off.

More specifically, whilst I believe they can set the UK price to whatever takes their fancy, I *think* they are in breech of EU sales regulation by refusing to allow us to pay in Euros.Quote:
the EU rules give you more rights when you purchase services abroad, for example:
shopping at a supermarket
buying products online
getting your hair cut
contracting a construction company to build or renovate your house
booking your holidays at a travel agency
hiring a lawyer.
For these types of services, and others, you have the right to buy from a service provider located in another EU country without
price discrimination
having the seller refuse to sell to you simply because you live in a different EU country.
so according to this.
The EU rules give you more rights when you purchase services abroad, for example:
shopping at a supermarket
buying products online
....
If an online shop refuses to sell you an item, or a supermarket refuses to give you a loyalty card, or you are charged a higher booking fee for your holiday simply because you live in a different EU country, then your rights are not being respected.
and
http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens...n/index_en.htm
Equal prices for foreigners
As an EU national, you cannot be charged a higher price than local residents when buying products or services anywhere else in the EU, unless the price difference is justified
so other products on the SE store convert some currency. yet this product doesnt.
does this not work? are they protected from this? i dont know about law, and would like some professional advice.
Well, as the stuff is region locked NA/EU/JP and the UK is in the EU, why not just buy the EU version for €130? That's £92 and as it's in Europe, no import taxes and such. Just don't buy it in £.
And no, SE won't comment on this, how can they defend the indefensible?
/edit - was I beaten to that? Yeah, SE cannot refuse to sell the EU client to you, as we're members of the EU and have free trade agreements, it's why there is price parity with £/€ for digital medium as we're allowed to buy anywhere in the EU.
Thank you for the link Sebazy. Much love <3
Nevermind.
It's super tricky as we aren't buying a tangible product, rather we are paying for a license to use some software. I believe that the CE bundle is technically a free bonus on the side of that license regardless of the price premium?
Grey area for sure! One thing I am fairly certain on is that the EU orders will be shipped from the London office, thus handling and shipping expenses can't really be used as justification.
Given the weak euro, doing some homework on this could be worth £30-£40, well worth it for a few emails methinks!
I bet good money that if the pound continued it's current freefall all the way to below the dollar, SE would suddenly remember that exchange rates exist.
It's not the price in euros people are raging about, it's the price in GBP. A few people up thread have converted it to around 190 dollars so we are paying quite a bit extra compared to the Americans and the rest of the EU.
That reply was to the person a few comments ago, thread is moving too fast! Hi Sebs :)
FFXIV 1.0 - Destroys SE's rep
FFXIV 2.0 - Reinstates SE's rep
FFXIV 3.0 - Destroys SE's rep
I can't wait for the next expansion, gonna be epic. XD
Well that's disappointing. I really wanted to get the physical CE, I love this game and I love *STUFF* but I can't justify the confirmed £130 price tag. I'll likely preorder the digital CE at some point. Heck I can even go out and buy myself a neat dragon statue and an art book with the money I saved and it'll still be cheaper. Goddamit Squeenix :c
SE can keep their kinder egg dragon, I'm not paying £42 more for it. As for the artbook? ebay.
At least you guys have the option of buying the Physical CE, id have to pay around £140 because im a steam user, so im getting screwed £50 more then i should be. Seriously why can it not be made to work with steam codes?
