Can't trade them anything and cant cast on them.
and yes i understand that the tail incap seems to be ridiculous idea just putting it out there maybe if and when the tail is incapped and the ogre dies you get his tail as a weapon slot equip to run around and light the unlit torches with ? and since no one has actually tried it.. its not really that far fetched to try
Incap the skeletons? I'm pretty much gasping at straws since I'm not doing the dungeons anymore, but I did think the skeletons did the feign death thing more than regular skeletons (Which also respawns their skull).
I'm gonna try a "kill everything" run later (garyoldmantheprofessional.gif) unless someone already did that.
i was wondering if maybe there is a right order activating the small&big circles ^_^ for example maybe need to first deactivate a big one & then the smalls one in the room with humanoids before the ogre but well maybe Doctor mog already made some try on this ><
we just did the "clear everything" run (which was our first attempt and was pretty sloppy) and got to batraal @ 7 minutes left. Got him to P3 and then ran out of time. Can definitely shave off 10~15 minutes on the next run. I'll post our progress in the next hour! :D
Yeah that time limit is a pain. Considering all that has been said so far about being rewarded for skill and effective usage of time, and all that, I wouldn't be surprised if "kill everything" is the condition. Also, considering all the other proposed theories are kinda outlandish.
AOE is the name of the game, baby! Tell them CONs to go BLM nuke mode! It's the only way to be sure.
what we're throwing around atm is:
a) full mob clear
b) no add clearing on batraal
both are definitely do-able and not far fetched ideas when you take a look at other hardmode encounters in other MMOs. I would suggest people focus on those two so we can narrow down the possibilities at this stage of the testing.
I thought Mog or someone else did full mob clear
we did full mob clear and only got 4 chests. it's something else like time or do something to those dumb lanterns

can always try and go straight to batraal and down him within 20min to test it out. you won't get all 5 chests but you'll get the one you're looking for

DoctorMog, you should edit a list into your first post which includes all the ways and strategys that have been tested so far to get the last chest. And a second list of all the suggestions that still have to be tested.
Right now we're sitting in TS, someone is reading this thread, the others making suggestions what we could try and then a second later the one who reads this threads tells us that someone already tried that. XD Kinda disappointing. :-P
Also a list of all the hints we've been given so far would be nice. Like the hint Yoshi gave us... that there are rewards we can't get if we play through this dungeon just once.
Btw... did someone try to cut off the horns of the Ogre and/or Batraal yet? Were you able too?

Has anyone tried entering and winning with one of each class and a extra con maybe ?
You beat me to it. This is whay i was coming on to post. Maybe SE forsaw every one wanting to do this the easy way and made it so the only way to get the 5th chest is to either just beat batraal with one of each class represented or possibly your party has to enter the dungeon with every class represented and you cant do any class changes.
I could see them doing it this way in hopes to avoid what ended up happening. Glad arc con only parties.
My LS is trying every class from porting in now, with no class changing. 1st attempt final boss @ ~20% hp ><; It is possible. I'll post update with win, and the 5th chest myth broken.
Skeleton strategy is sorta "simple" the most difficult part is getting threat on them by the GLA
Easiest set up would be 3x GLA, 2x CON, 2x THM, 1x ARC
P1: GLA1 takes both north skulls, GLA2 takes west skull.
P2: Both GLA Save 3000 TP for RS2 Riot Blade + Provoke to pick up new skulls. Should out threat the MT healer. The Skulls have insane HP so Circle Slash + BloodBath2 + Heals can maintain threat.
P3: All 4 mages help cure the MT while the GLA with 2 skulls gets both north spawns, and the one with 3 takes the west spawn, again pick up with 3k Riot Blade RS2 (extra skull maybe save Provoke and then Warmonger). This is so no mage has "tons" of threat on the new spawns and allows the GLA's time to pick them up and start Circle Slashing to keep them. They then go turtle mode (as they have been doing) and just live until the boss dies.
Turtle mode = Deflection, Aegis Boon, Stygian II, Cure2/Sac2 etc... most tanks should know how to do this. With 4 skulls + Stygian Spikes you'll probably never go OOM even spamming Cure2's, maybe can even put C3 on bar for that part, but the skulls normals should only hit for maybe 70-100 (hit for 250-300 on my ARC) and ofc 0 when one of the shield skills is ready.
1 THM and 1 ARC doing dps will be slower, but it is doable.
Killing the eyes with Batraals attacks didn't work, even with them being debuffed.
So we killed a chain bearer at ogre...
Hardest boss in the game.

Just a thought, probably nothing though but:
Like the other chests in the dungeon, do Batraal's chests each have a specific piece of gear they have a chance to drop? If so, is there any piece of gear that hasn't been found in any of the chests yet? If they each have a specific piece and no gear is missing that would point to the fact that there indeed actually isn't a 5th chest and the placement is just a massive dev troll. If not then disregard it and keep guessing lol.
