Thats actually a good question. It does state "Rank 25 or higher" and nothing about a cap. Maybe items wont be worth while to people so high, and they'll stay away or change jobs/classes?

Its a new color, its identical to Harrier's, but now has a bit of white paint on it. Ya know I did something like that and it only took me 10 mins to re-texture a model.
SE Should hire me.
Grid cave is identical, the Coerthas one is quite new-though, its okay inside, but the place where the boss would seem to be is quite near the enterance and theres a lot of side paths with other rooms, maybe have to do some dynamis kind of stuff
Have to wonder why the rank 25 area is surrounded by rank 50 aggressive mobs, but I was able to solid snake my way there..
Enemies among other things are supposed to be adjusted with 1.18 as well.
Other things = stuff that fits with the battle system overhaul (equipment stats, character stats actually having an effect on things, enemies being changed to suit the new battle system as well as an overall stat adjustment, class skills being adjusted, etc.).
I guess he/she is talking about those glitched videos from awhile back. Honestly, we dont know if they are taking so long because they redid alot of the internal structure of the dungeons as well.
@people complaining about reused maps: LOL why wouldn't they use the maps that were going to be used for dungeons? That would be such a waste of developed content. If you wanted another new area you'd have to wait another several months for that, and I don't think that would settle so well with all the people whining about the content taking too slow.
@people assuming these dungeons are going to be garbage: Yet another example of failed reading comprehension by the FFXIV community.
Like others had said, this sounds like a salvage type of deal. You go in and the paths you choose will lead you to different outcomes. It sounds like there will be certain puzzles of sort (conditions) to spawn different monsters. It also sounds like there will be multiple notorious monsters within the dungeon similar to what FFXI has seen. (Also note we have almost all of FFXI's old dev team leaders so I would not be surprised if the dungeons were similar to those of FFXI that everyone loved so much)Quote:
An array of rich rewards awaits dauntless adventurers who would brave these forsaken domains, and can be obtained by vanquishing formidable foes, fulfilling certain conditions within the area, and, of course, plundering treasure chests.
Also on the note of having copy and paste mobs, yeah from the pictures it appears that's true. But also what are these "troops of foreign origin" maybe garleans? I don't about everyone else, but I think that would be cool fighting garleans and their machinery. Though it may not be garleans, but could be some mobs not yet added in to the game. Usually in the lore I feel they would say specifically what mob type it was if we've seen it before, but this foreign origin thing makes it sound as if it's something new.Quote:
Recently, however, word has arrived by way of leaked intel that troops of foreign origin have seized occupation of the Darkhold for an as-yet unknown end.
Also, please don't whine about the "copy/paste" armor that's there. The last NM patch introduced 40 new pieces of equipment in which a decent amount were indeed not "copy/paste." I feel the FFXIV community right now in general is just complaining too much without even knowing what is actually going to happen.
I really hope they didn't just use those blocked off dungeons that already in the game. Adding more copy-pasted areas is not the way to go.
I like to read these posts backwards that way I don't know what you people are talking about...
Yes its green does that make it copy/paste? not by a long shot, Reserve judgement till release
You know what else was copied?
In FFXI the Spires, or rather crags that you can enter were of similar design because they were built based around cermet and by the same people. E.g Delkfutts tower looked like Fei`yin and Palace of Velugannon/Shrine of Ru`Avitau, no one really complained about the look but rather the "puzzles" inside >.>
Nope, it looks absolutely nothing like Mun-Tuy. It's green and is coherent with the style of gridanian dungeons, but that's it. Again, better glasses are in order.
And we already saw that those videos are of areas that don't really reflect the pictures shown.
So no, we don't know what they look like.
Try again.
Srsly? Tam-Tara Deepcroft and Toto-Rak look exactly the same. Where the heck are your glasses! Lol. The cobblestone textures, the foliage. Maybe you should play the game more or at least be more observant of your surroundings.

I really wonder if people are expecting one dungeon in Gridania region to look like mossy cobblestone while another in the Gridania region look like the land of summons meanwhile a third looks like shinra corp. >.>
Textures from that Video and the Dungeons are noticably different but again I will reserve judgement on Release
Time will tell.
I want a challenge because of challenging content, not because of a cap that forces my level 50 PGL to run through content as a level 30. Especially if I want to run through something just for fun's sake. I'm not going to run through a level 30 dungeon because I need the gear at level 50.

This better be the dungeon boss battle music. No substitutes, Yoshi-P please make it happen.
Well, regardless the differences are so miniscule, they're hardly worth mentioning. Anyway I've seen those areas, and unless they've changed them dramatically, they're the same copy-pasted mess the rest of the game consist of.
Wrong. You are a trolling partisan if ever there was one. Anytime someone says something negative about this game there you are puking up the koolaide all over it. Its hilarious. And what are you wrong about? Just happens to be this time around I think people are jumping to a conclusion all to soon about something we know nothing about.
Again, I just think its hilarious watching you leap in like Errol Flynn sporting your rose-tinted glasses while waving about your SE issued cutlass.
Which is why the cap is there, because the content is designed to be played by rank 25 characters, specifically, and be challenging to those players. You can't have the same battle content be challenging to both low and high rank players at the same time.
There's the problem of players using their rank 50 characters to blaze through the dungeons to equip their rank 30 classes, instead of actually earning those items the normal way.
I'm basing it off personally going there and looking, cant post link though mods don't like it.
I'll laugh my ass off if they did rebuild it, but judging from the Grid one not a single thing has changed, it just got populated with mobs. And I'm assuming the same for the Coerthas. If in 6 months all they can do is 2 dungeons and get it delayed, i doubt they did much rebuilding, otherwise they'd also make new mob.
If he enjoys it, let him. Redesigns will come since the rest of the community pushes hard for it ^^
He's kinda got a point though, since they arent really "copy paste" as some are saying, and they do have different internal structures and set pieces than other dungeons. Plus they are instanced, so this extra time could've been used to improve the structure or add additional graphic touches.
EDIT: They dont really need to make new enemies, just populate them with enemies that arent widely seen at those ranks. Now the boss enemy should be something large/fairly different looking than a normal enemy. Even if its a really big drake, it should have a different skin texture or extra additions to the model since they use that polygon shaving tech.
I'm all for redesigns, but only for places that actually need them: Most of the overworld areas.
Well the first one looks like mun tuy cellars, the second one looks rehashed of something else we've seen a few dozen times elsewhere. The enemies in that preview are re-skinned monsters of what little variety already exists in world. I'm not complaining, i'm sharing with you some facts based on what was shown.
Some of us who are underwhelmed aren't dismissing the entire system. We're just not excited based on what's been shown thus far. Each preview is designed to inform, and sell. It's certainly attempted to inform, but I'm definitely not sold. When you have an empty canvas before you, you have every opportunity to paint the perfect picture. The fact is, what's been revealed is either an indication of rehashed content, or the team in charge of putting together previews are failing to do their jobs. The concept excites me, that preview doesn't.
don't agree? deal.
