Wouldn't be so easy at all. Why? Lore. Can you imagine ravage gladiators fighting in colusseum suddenly become a holy paladin? (Yes I know PLD is not confirmed but it's perfect example).

Do you think all the specialized skills for these new jobs will be given to us, or will we have to do quests, spend guild mark points, etc for them?
I think.... people worry too much about the names.
I feel the same.. the only reason I want to be here now is male and female Miqo'te but... more than just a character we can relate to, we need content. I'm really not looking forward to jobs at all now if they're just being handed to use like this. I was hoping to LEARN my job and TAKE TIME leveling and growing and improving my job. I love leveling. I hate endgame. If they take leveling away and just put me in endgame.. well there's no point in me even being here.
I love SE.. I just wish they wouldn't take everything I love from this game.
idk :< I have to see more.
Hi Nabiri,
I empathize with you. I originally approached FF XIV like FF XI, thinking that we'd focus on "1 Main Job" and a Sub perhaps, really more about depth (long time in leveling up that 1 class), but since Day 1 until now (and especially with the faster SP updates now), it's clear that that is not the focus of FF XIV.
It feels more like they want us to explore the breadth of classes and it's more "horizontal" than "vertical" so to speak. So more like trying out a bunch of Jobs ala Final Fantasy Tactics or FF V or FF XIII. With that focus and fast SP, the leveling up becomes a chore since we have so few areas to rank up in. Sure we can take our time, but even not trying, just doing Guildleve Parties and Linking, and an occasional SP Party, you get to Rank 50 pretty fast.
Having to *repeat* the entire grind from Rank 1 - 50 over and over and over again for multiple Classes is a chore already (revisiting Nanawa Mines, Broken Water, or doing the popular Cedarwood Leves, or grinding Efts or Raptors), and I couldn't imagine going to the same areas and fighting the same monsters if we had to rank the new Jobs up from 1 to 50 as well.
I'm glad you enjoy the grind, and I respect your opinion. Just that for me, I'd rather spend my time on real content, something more meaningful than just grinding Rank 1 - 50 again over and over. If you're curious about some potential stuff that could be more meaningful content, I posted up some specifics here:

Thanks~ :)
Kiara, your arguments look pretty but there are some flaws to them. Let's compare the anticipated job system where your class rank is the same as job rank (system X) with one which each new job starts from level 1 after unlocking (system Y).
Why are job quests, skill quests and JSE limited to only (system X)? Surely (system Y) will have quests to unlock the new jobs and the skill quests could be used as the main quest line of that job. Or, all classes could get new quests to unlock new skills. Nevermind the fact that there's a good chance these quests will be boring (if you find the current quests boring). Also, there's no reason why only jobs in (system X) would get JSE but jobs/classes in (system Y) wouldn't.
Why is it bland and the same boring old grind when leveling new jobs from level 1 but it's *exploring* and exciting when doing it on THM with a BLM job? You can have just as much fun *exploring* being a full BLM as being a THM/BLM.
The last point you made about having to level from 1 before exploring the new content is true. But you'd only need to get to ~20-25 before you could do the R30 content. You wouldn't need to get all the way to 50 before you start enjoying the new content. Now, what if THM unlocks BLM and BLM seems like the bee's knees to you. But, you already have THM at 50. Now, you don't get to enjoy the R30 content much.
^ this.
Exactly. The new content would liven up the 1-50 grind on the new jobs.
Hi Lautus,
I wouldn't say it's flawed; it's your opinion on something, and I have my opinion. ;)
True, there absolutely can be Job Quests to unlock them even if you started at Rank 1 of a potential new Job System (so Paladin Rank 1), and you can have JSE quests in that system too. I never said you couldn't.
I said that that type of challenge, *if* they are challenging and engaging is something I'd consider real, meaningful content. Not grinding another Rank 1 - 50.
If you want to grind Paladin from R1 - 50 in an alternate system, I understand where you're coming from. I said that's not what I'd like to do, at all. It's boring and a copout for Square to hope that grinding Paladin from Rank 1 -> 50 is a replacement for giving us real content.
As for "exploring," I was addressing a point in a previous thread (look up the Dengeki Thread) from someone else, bringing up a concern about "what if CON unlocked WHM vs. BLM?" My point was (and it's confirmed now by SE) that you don't have to grind to Rank 50 to unlock a Job, so even if that poster was worried that their CON ranking up was a waste of time because they wanted it to be BLM (or WHM) and they got the opposite, that getting to Rank 20 or 30 wasn't so bad. It's better than getting it to Rank 50 (then I can see them getting really upset).
Ultimately, I know many friends on my server that don't mind and want to grind another "Job" to Rank 50, but after seeing great points made by Physic, Wind and a few others, I would agree with them, and can't wait to see Square's new Job System which has No Ranks. I'd rather spend my time doing other things that seem more interesting to me than grinding 1 - 50 again. Thanks.
