The dye and materia System as well as 2 piece armor...

However i agree with the subject, can't dye anything worth dyeing, and materia system, even on the things you can meld, generally sucks, with tight caps on the stats you can actually add.

In 1.0 you could really add a lot of power to items with materia, its not the case anymore even with pentamelds.

This topic came back to me last night when I finally got my boots to Drop in AK.... And I realized that the AK boots have a Dye slot....

Why SE, Why oh why can I die one piece of gear in a set, but not the other 4?

Really strange and I hope they expand the dying system too.

This game seems to have some of the worst Customization i've ever seen in an MMO, yes the weapons and gear look amazing but we all look the same 24/7, which loses its appeal very fast in my opinion.

Crafters should be good because they are able to craft gear people want made, not because of a gemming mechanic that is barely supported at end-game... They need to continue supporting crafters at end-game by putting in Recipe drops from bosses, so crafters can supply FC members (or others) with gear in future dungeons.

As for the dye issue.. The dye-system was a great idea, but it's poor planning on their part for them to only let you dye the stuff that you'll never wear at end-game. It's all well and good that my plain looking leveling robe is dyed my favourite shade of blue.. but that means nothing if i try to do end game. Armour that's meant purely for PvE should not be restricted at all in a game with a dye system; PvP armour is a different story, as visual queues are key in pvp fights, but that's another thing altogether right now.

And then for the 2-piece armour system, what will happen when vanity slots come in? Will we only be able to use equipment in vanity that uses those two slots? If that's the case, then that's another strike against customization for the game.

My only issue with 2 piece armor is it looks like I'm passed out drunk while on my Coeurl mount. I also can't turn my head.

I'm not really sure I understand why 2-piece armor even exists. They could model the "cowl" part of the robe as a separate piece pretty easily - and then it'd make for some really nice mix-and-match combinations later down the line.

But really. 2-piece armor has no functional purpose over two separate items aside from, I guess, being two upgrades in one, but really... at such a massive cost to customization, it's hardly worth it. It's a bit absurd.

Inevitable? I suppose, it is technically possible that someone, somewhere in WoW or Rift or TERA or Aion or LotRO or <insert MMO with costuming and dye systems here> will choose the exact same combination of armors in the exact same colors that I do. Highly unlikely, however, unless you're the kind to go for the "all black" or "all white" thing. And at the very least opening the door to greater customization allows for significantly more variety in looks. Right now, we have zero variety.

If anything, the 2-piece armour is in the negative when considering it's function to players. You're right that it's two upgrades in one, but then we must get two pieces of separate gear to replace that, instead of upgrading each piece by itself.
