Don't get me started on that....Quote:
P.S. the lack of scales over the belly on the female DRG armor makes me sad panda.
I hope they'll fix that... I doubt they will.

The eras that Zanarkand exists in, and Spira as seen in 98% of the rest of FF10, are very very different.
I also personally think that X2 was a bit exaggerated.
Anyways, I should have been more specific in my statement.
Arcadia was exactly what I was referring to, regarding what a Garlean city might look like.
It would be nice if they added variants for armors like that.
Like where you can take it to a specific NPC and they can activate and deactivate certain aesthetics for certain armors.
Stomach Chainmail = On/Off
Back Spikes = On/Off
Tassets = On/Off
that type of thing.
Forget about the gear styles, what I want is the ambient armor sounds I had in XI back. Half the reason why I enjoyed playing PLD was the CLANK CLANK CLANK that you hear when you run around in full plate. It got more hilarious when I went PLD/THF in the Gardens of Ru'Hmet to kite things while soloing missions, super speed clanking is ridiculously fun.
As some of you may have noticed the new starting race specific gear on the alpha videos is very specific and detailed and is a major jump in the right direction compared to the tunic and tights alot of us started out with in FFXIV 1.**. While I didn't collect alot of the race specific lore (I assume there is more then just race discovery and specifically named foods) I do like that the starting gear gives the sense of a differing culture between the races (well so did their underoos but social implications and understanding via underware is more of a obscure sociological debate that I willing bow out to). While only seeing the Midland and Miqote live we have the concepts for the Elezen and Roegadyn which are do vary in a large margin. It reminds me of crystal Chronicles in that way where the races have a specific style when starting out. Best examples (least SDed) are from crystal bearer where you can see cultural differences even in the main character designs i believe done by Toshiyuki Itahana.
What I like the best about the designs is there something that is instantly recognizable because of its outlandish nature. Such as Layle's pilot jacket even if it doesn't specifically match in all the designs. Similar to Laguna's civilian jacket
While there are a few things that exist in FFXIV that are independent from the rest of attire you wear (Mostly because of the outrageous color scheme such as the merc's Acton). I think we need more really distinctive items more so then just the ice skating blades on the head of the h.darklight or the Ring wraith darklight helm.
lol i would love to see my guy wear like tidus's gear XD

Eh, I think we are pushing item customization a bit far with something like that. They might as well just create a design-your-own-armor system with some preset parts.
I like the designs of AF overall, but the DRG armor needs to have the same protection/coverage for both sexes. The 'open stomach' on the female design just reeks of exploitation. It's especially glaring considering the overall coverage of the rest of the armor.

Lets hope they fix it in ARR...
Lol funny because I actually came to this forum to say "I'd love to see the designed who worked on X-2's armor to work on some of FFXIV's armor because I think all the dress spheres in X-2 are beautiful, iconic Final Fantasy job armor mixed flair and fantasy elements.
