If I have 999,999,999 gil now and decide to buy something for 30mil (double melded obelisk as an example), I would only be spending about 3% of my gil. When 2.0 comes around and my max gil is reduced to 99,999,999 and I still see the same item selling for 30mil, I just won't bite because I'll be losing 30% of my income. That said, if I had a double melded obelisk in 2.0 I would probably sell it around 5-10mil because some fool might think of it as a steal and splurge not realizing he lost 5-10% of his income. Moral of the story? Adapt or be prepared of people taking advantage of your stupidity.

LOL at OP. It's called redenomination, if the countries of Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, Yugoslavia, Tiawan, and the Euro zone can do it in real life, SE can do it with thier game. They are not taking away your hard work.

Oh, stop this nonsense. I have like 600,000 gil meaning when ARR comes around I'll have something like 60,000 gil and you don't hear me complaining. All these "QQ I'm rich and I'll still be rich when ARR comes but less rich" threads need to stop.

Doesn't change the fact that players will be keeping the same prices. They won't start new cut by tenth prices on the ah/wards. I get the the vendors and everything. People are greedy and will sell everything at the same prices before. They will not lower when being sold from person to person.

The "fact"? Where can I get this flawless magical crystal ball you're using to obtain such a "factual" image of the future?

Anyone attempting to sell things at the higher rates they are now will be sitting on a lot of unsold items. If they seriously want to sell their items, they're going to have to bring them down to realistic prices.

Realistic prices does not mean 1/10 of 1.0 items either which is OP concern. So if everything is not 1/10 of thier prices in the wards your buying power changes.
