Need better incentive to Commendate

What? 6+ years? I have 2,570 commendations after only playing for a little over 3, and as a pure DPS main no less.

Admittedly, my glamour standard was bikini armor... but for every 1 gooner that could give comms over something like that, there's 10 prudes who would adamantly refuse. Can't be my portrait or personality, as I leave the first on the default setting and I don't even say "hello" anymore these days. I'd hate to think it was over my performance either because I know that's mid/below-average.

Now I have to wonder why people were giving me comms at all, lol.

It's possible you're not playing as well as you think you are, thus no commends. It could also be that people commend based off of portraits now (that's what I tend to do).

I don't have an "incentive" besides just picking which portrait looks the best, but that has been enough for me. Back before portraits, I would commend based on gameplay, not because I had any incentive to but because it takes like no effort and it gives a little feedback, I guess? I often do not commend at all if I don't think anyone in the party particularly deserves it, aka meh gameplay and bad portraits (or if there's 3 lalafels)

If you're concerned about time, then either make a better portrait/play better, or just spam guildhest, mentors will commend you if you say "hey Im farming for commends," because you're helping them with mentor roulette.

I think other people seeing your commends could be cool. Maybe have negative commends, too, so you can get bandit status if you're a real duty finder rascal!

- Get a good glam
- Get a good portrait and adventure plate
- Just say typical "hi" or something at the start. Saying anything else more than that will be considered cringy and you won't get any comms because people hate spammers with kupo and random stuff.
- Play healer or tank.

I tested both and with tank I can get 2-3 comms in a dungeon, it really depends I guess. With a tank always try to serve shields and mitigation as much as possible. Carry around phoenix down so you can ress party members if healer is dead and no other dps can ress. This is extremely important. After you do all of this hard work and save your dungeon with a sweat, you'll come to exit of a dungeon only to see that you didn't receive anything even though you did everything you could. I play as a healer while being half afk and 6 dungeons in a row I get 2 comms by default.

People just don't appreciate actions that much so learn from my story. They'll always comm a random "hot" portrait than someone if they save group.

There are two general possibilities of what's going inside player's head when they're on such situations:
- "Wow! This person is such a chad! Thanks! I'll comm you!", or;
- "Let me just get out of this hell hole quickly already..."

It's tough for them to try to see what other's doing when they're already at the point where they want to end their miseries asap, lol.

Should honestly be a title for getting -1000 commends. Obviously having a negative commend status will impact people wanting to do stuff with you if there's a negative connotation to it. So, maybe rather than being a negative commend, it could be just an alternative type of commend. A commend for battle performance and commend for being funny or something.

When you're 1500 mentor roulettes in, 4 praetoriums back to back, you will bless the person who queued for Bockman 5 times straight.

Could also phrase it differently, I guess, but begging for commends is typically looked down upon when you aren't really giving me anything in return -- you just want freebies, especially if you're bad. However, queueing for guildhests is actually beneficial for the mentor queueing mentor roulette, and they have an INCENTIVE to keep this person queueing for guildhests, so that you don't get another praetorium. In that sense, it's not really them begging, it's a transaction.

I think they simply need to scrap commendations to be honest, and rework the mentor system whilst they are at it..

You're coming from a place where you're grinding out an achievement, running one roulette repeatedly for a mount. I don't do that with Mentor roulette; I go in once, maybe twice a day if I feel like it. If I feel like some chaos, risking an ARR EX or maybe even a Heavensward one, I'll go in more often in one day. So yeah, someone asking for comms in a guildhest when I get one in mentor roulette comes off as begging and I will not give them what they want.

I only give coms to my fellow Lalafells. Talls might get one if they are chatty and super friendly.
