Or worse, in the middle of a raid.

I was worried that I was going to clear the new Extreme Trial after having a 0.1% wipe on our previous attempt. We were right on pace this attempt, but thankfully the DDoS saved the day and stopped us in our tracks (or the train's tracks, I guess).

its not a DDOS... its our actual characters protesting against the continuing effort of the devs to turn them into drooling pablum eaters

DDOS makes it sound like it's not SE's fault somehow, I think it's an excuse. Don't have this problem with other MMO's. Maybe they have a more robust datacenter, one not vulnerable to every burp on the net :(
