No, it's definitely that bad.
We need the same kind of community team we had back between 1.x and ARR. That group was absolutely amazing and were incredibly liked by the vast majority of the players at the time. But nope, ARR launches and they get the boot, except for the least personable one of course. No idea if he is still with the company or not but the rest moved on and we need those kinds of ppl back.
"Please look forward to it."
They stayed away from the forum even before it went full negative though, even on the Japanese side (and the German one is dead anyway).
They simply don't want to interact with the community in best Japanese business fashion like so many others there.
There is a reason why they don't win any community awards anymore. We aren't even worth a timely translation and the whole thing would break down if our discord translators quit.
I sometimes try to speak against the worst negativity but even I have to wonder why anyone is so surprised by it.
The devs worsened job identity more and more and in the case of BLM even against desperate feedback by its players.
People were screaming against the void but to no avail until they gave up and just quit.
Their very first reaction to the negative impact to 7.0s story was to deflect and try to ignore like always until the whole thing simply didn't die down because of blunder after blunder and playernumbers dropped to a point they admitted complacent behaviour themselves.
There definitely is the will and the first tries to win players back again but the negativity on the forum is entirely of their own design because people are simply fed up by not being listened to again and again.
At one point the glass simply breaks and while I am against the worst ways people give their criticism I can completely understand their frustration.
I mean they aren't wrong, and the discussions had will reflect the state of the game from that users' perspective.. From my opinion this expansion has done nothing noteworthy except give me a fresh coat of paint, and put down the treadmill once again.
Sure, it's no different, but when you feed people the same thing each expansion, they will inevitably get tired of it.. You can also say quite easily that most people praising the expansion and calling it the best ever, are just turning a blind eye to the plethora of issues because they think the raids are half decent.
The forum has been fairly constructive lately. Negative, but there is worth to a lot of the things said. I realise it's because it got so bad even the residents trolls got fed upbut I feel the whole 'forum is negative, why listen to it' is the new way to dismiss critics rather than the reality.
It really kind of isn't, if you step back and look at Dawntrail compared to what other expansions delivered.
It's basically just Endwalker again but without the massively overhyped MSQ and some more experimental content.
It's simply a case of Dawntrail having the misfortune of not being able to blind people with it's story, and suddenly everyone is noticing the issues that have existed for years and that some of us have been talking about for years.
If anything I would actually have to put Dawntrail above Endwalker.
As someone who doesn't put too much value into the MSQ, since it is just something I do once every patch, and is more interested in the "meat" of the game.
Dawntrail's content offerings have been at least on the same level as Endwalker, and imo they have been better than Endwalker. I also have to at least give the devs credit for trying something new, even if some of it fell flat.
Does this mean Dawntrail is great? Of course not, it just means that people have seriously rose-tinted glasses for the previous expansion.
Core aspects of the game have been gradually rotting since Shadowbringers, people were just fine with putting their heads in the sand and pretending the problem doesn't exist until now.
Guys, you complain about absolutely everything in this game! And often in condradictory ways! What feedback do you want them to follow?
This isn't a forum, it's a trash can, everyone knows it. I pity the moderators whose job it is to read it, truly.
It is not true. I never read a complain about the character selection screen. ;)
But yes, some complaints contradict each other. A good example is the bad balance between the jobs. If you want a good balance then you have to remove every difference between the jobs. But now, you get complaints, that the jobs are too similar. :)
Cheers
