How the team always tried to build the same WoW-experience over and over again, streamlining and optimizing that experience, because it worked in the past so it will work in the future too. Well? That's not how it goes, and the only thing that leads to is staleness, players being treated as numbers on a spread sheet, and systems becoming what designers want instead of what players want.
Once they realized that, their game and design philisophy began to change. And it shows. The game is much much better now, and showing no signs of getting worse.
