I agree with most of what you said but this? Resonates with me to an incredible level. I'm so tired of having nothing to do if you are not a raider for extremes, savage and ultimate... They really need to come up with something engaging that is permanente and is not PVP thank you. Or the infinitive dungeons like the Palace of the Dead where you reset everytime you fail and demotivates you after some tries because you need a lot of time and RNG to do it...

When Island Sanctuary was announced I thought we would get something different, but is the Firmament all over again, grind, grind, grind without fun.
They really repeat themselves all the time. They could do different huntings, they could add different types of fates, they could add more different types of treasure maps (there is only 2 with different skin, how sad is that?) and etc.

FF14 is really not what I thought back when I arrived in Shadowbringers.

XIV survived Stormblood, it will survive DT as well.

I really wish we lived in a world where product quality and user experience meant something for the companies, but have you seen the numbers DT pulled? It's joined the halls of other mediocre, borderline bad expansions in Steam and Metacritic and the overall sentiment in the media about it it's polarizing, yet SE pretty much made it to EW numbers and beyond. Many of our complains keep repeating themselves from expansion to expansion for almost a decade, we get a "we hear you" once in a while, and it hasn't affected the bottom line. Yoshida as a PR genius managed to make a community of beans loyalists emotionally attached to him and the game while sticking to a mediocre, repetitive design formula of low cost and risk with high returns.

Blizzard has been involved in some horrible stuff in the past few years and all of their IPs are still money makers. The Pokemon Company has been doing nothing but mediocre games with mixed to bad reception and they could release a rock with googly eyes tomorrow as a Pokemon product, and you bet people would buy it. It's the same here. Once the next patch drops everyone will forget about this.

I’ve played this game for its entire lifespan (so just on 13 years this month) and in that 13 years I’ve spent almost 10 on break. The 5 or so I’ve been active I’ve never spent more than maybe 5 or 6 months where this was the only game I played

So I worked full time that entire 13 years (more than full time really usually averaging 60 hours) have been on break for more than 66% of it and even when I’m not on break I can barely justify having it as my only game when i only get about 15 hours of free time per week

That’s just a lack of repeatable content in a live service game, not a need to go on break because you overplayed it

What is ironic is that SE openly said that one of the reason 1.0 failed was because they thought they knew better what playerbase wanted. And now they are doing it again :(

Your example is flawed because the restaurant tells you up front what it's menu is and after you order you go "why didn't you change it up, I want something different than what's on the menu".

That is what OP is doing. Also, he is doom posting, he's saying he's worried the game is dying when he's simply burnt out.

Thing is, there is PLENTY of content in between dungeons, Alliance raids, raids and Savage, trials and extreme, variant dungeons, deep dungeons, etc.

Thing is, there's no reason why you'd want to repeat it besides roulette, and that becomes irrelevant once you hit 100 with whatever you plan to play. Take into account most of this content hasn't been touched in a decade and it's objectively not fun to play. There's plenty of very fun content that I like to quarter just for the sake of playing it, but unless you're a healer you'll have to wait up to 40 minutes for non MSQ content.

They introduced Ultimates to shake things up, but they cycle them at an insultingly slow pace. They added Wondrous Tails, but people would rather play them unsynced.

And if you want to play old endgame then there are Discord channels. Just try to recruit there and in PF and be ready to wait up to two hours to play, hours you could be using to play anything else.

There's a reason why games that try to emulate the Trial and Raiding experience of XIV, like Rabbit and Steel, are slowly becoming a thing.

They're not going to stop updating XIV this way unless the game starts bleeding money.

Their MMORPG-for-busy-dads approach is applied even to their offline games (XVI). Yoshi-P really likes this kind of design philosophy and update cycle.

i am not burned out making a lot of breaks and i am worried aswell and now ? its not doomposting if you have valid critiques. why is it so hard to understand for you that not everyone likes the same thing as you do ? for my example i think you missunderstand it...lets make it more clear. you have a menu and order something, but the waiter make a mistake and you get something diffrent what will you do ? call the waiter tell him theres a mistake and order something new or do you keep quiet about it and eat it? same thing is here. Whave a game here OP is not happy about it, so the forum is the place to raise the voice. where is the diffrence ? For people like you i can litterally stand in a raid which is unplayable because SE fcked it up and when i will speak it out i am a doomposter aswell. the game is not perfect and the community was never so splitted and unsatisfied as it is now. Dont be ignorant you know it if you are looking into the forums. Its not a minority anymore. So whats next will you call every person who wants the game beeing great again a doomposter or do you have valid arguements why OP should not be woried about the future ? The argument of you are just burned out is so i am sorry mr SE Stu*pid. thats like the only argument that people have when someone raise his voice about the flaws of the game. But spoiler there are a lot of people who do breaks for 1 and half year and still hates some parts of the game where is the burnout ?
