Quest spamming is a pretty boring way to play an MMO, especially considering that some of the quests in FFXIV are rather boring, and in fact pale in comparison to the competitors. FFXIV should have just played to its strenghts. I have a feeling imitation isn't going to work out too well in this regard, despite what all the inflated hype leads people to believe.

Actually, they said that exp camps won't work.

Lets not forget getting all your gear from quests as you level up!~ There goes even more comradery, no point in crafters crafting or selling anything until level 50

As long as the crafted gear has better stats than its quest reward equivalent, it won't really be an issue.

What's the point in buying that crafted gear if you can just level up in a few quests anyways. They aren't going to make the fights that tough where gear really matters from 1-45. Nobody will buy gear from players if they can just get free gear from quests.

I read'd the translated interview now.
Well, i want to see it firsthand before any comment, but right now i don't care anyway. There's times where you really hate exping in party
(when i leveled my first version pup in solo with even match mobs because everyone hated pup...nuff said)

I agree, but I also think on way of leveling shouldn't over shadow another. One shouldn't be better than the other.

I think S.E. are trying to cater to the common denominator who, statistics show, like quest hubs and quest spamming. Problem is, it looks like other MMOs are catering to that demographic better (with fully voiced NPCs like Blade and Soul and GW2 and SWTOR and Secret World), so I don't fancy how S.E. expects to somehow exceed them with a pale imitation.

Key thing =/= other ways won't work. Just means it'll be the most efficient.

as I said, it shouldn't over shadow other ways of leveling, it can be there, but shouldn't be the best or main way of leveling.
