Optional ♂ or ♀

In fairness, I do see the OP's concern.

There have been a fair amount of guys from chatrooms, EQ, to FFXI, and WoW that start to invest emotion toward females.

It's like if a guy sees an attractive woman at a bar, chats with her, goes on some dates, gets emotionally vested, then finds out she was born a boy. Some guys can see past that. Others can't.

Some folks just like female company for some events rather than sexy hot man dudes.

I can't fault ya for being curious. But as we said, play it safe, assume everyone is a man over the internet.

So... we need to force women to disclose their identity - google search "WoW Real ID women's reactions" or something along those lines for a primer on why this is a bad idea - in order to protect straight men's feeeeeeeelings from possibly being hurt?

How about people stop using games as a dating service and actually play?
(I know there are some very sexually frustrated virgins, but geez, going as far as hitting on a guy playing as a chick..)

Reminds me of a story of some dude who played WOW, hit on some night elf "chick", fell for "her" and bought "her" gifts and spent about $4k on her, then when he went to meet "her" irl, "She" was a "he" and he killed himself afterward.

And to all the typical sexist antics of "There are no girls on the internet" You sure try your hardest to find one in-game.

If SE would implement this as optional I wonder how many people would actually even use it.
I kinda doubt there wouldn't be that many...
If you were forced to choose either one... then that would be just silly. :I

Even if SE had this option, I think it will not be used as intended.
