Sadly these polls aren't accurate when they don't have a way to do the poll through game considering the amounts of players that don't actually visit the forums at all. Just putting that out there.

Curious to know how many players did the poll versus how many total active players there were at the time the poll was done.
Grinding mobs isn't exactly the epitome of a proper leveling model. That aside, assuming we're going to get more dungeons and such in 2.0, I could see groups of mobs designed to encourage (not require) crowd-control or off-tanking. Something like a non-elite that can silence mages if left alive long enough, followed by two tougher melee-type elite mobs and a ranged attacker/caster mob. Of course, the downside, if you could call it that, is that you'd have to give all DPS crowd control so that they are all equally capable of joining the group.
Which shows that while Skillchains and MBs were nice on paper, in practice they were just...not too ideal.Quote:
Even in FFXI, it turned into a weapon skill spam.
I don't like fast leveling in MMO's that's why no other game held my attention other that FFXI. I agree i didn't like long party wait times and I don't want just a grind-fest for a game, but I remember when you saw a person that was level 75 you were almost in awe of them, because you knew they put in some serious time and effort to get there and to be wearing the gear that they were and it made you strive to excel.
I don't like everyone having all max level jobs either, it takes the uniqueness and fun and feeling from it for me. back in the day when everyone saw me, they KNEW i was a samurai no doubt, I had the Hagun great katana back when it was millions of gil, Haubergeon when it was a couple mil, Soboro Sukehiro when the area for the battle was level capped, etc. and the same for others. folks were career jobs, and took up the crafts to support that job etc. they took the time and effort and knew it in and out and what they were supposed to be doing and how to do it. xi was not for the weak or the spoiled pampered players that we have today and THAT'S what i miss and why i don't play xi now because that era is long gone. i don't want xiv to be starting out where xi has already ended up. easily leveling, watered down content and no "real" sense of accomplishment.
All of my hopes are now on 2.0 I didn't play xiv at launch because I didn't have a pc capable. but now I do and was banking on GW2 but after learning of 2.0 I came back home to Final Fantasy. At least leave the leveling as is and just make it not so easy 40-50 like people say and the same for beyond when they raise the level cap.
Nostalgia goggles can be harsh, most people playing XI in the COP days are very similar to people playing XIV now.
COP missions weren't difficult, they were just difficult for the people doing them. That example can be likened to many of the events for PUGs in this game.
theres other games with character growth and no leveling it more about accomplishments then watching a XP bar max out.
but this game like most others that were designed around XP system.
go play cabal with its 180 lvls where grinding for 12 and you might see the xp bar move a millinch
My signature makes my pants move.
Nope Chuck Testa. Get all your achievements then get back to me. spamming one content over and over is not doing all the content. Did you get all your crown achievements? Gil achievements? Gold fishing rod? If you want to be hardcore those are the long term stuff people will do. Plus you can do that while leveling.
that is irrelevant. only 3% of the ffxiv gaming community is from the forums. versus 97% that just play the game without bothering to look in here.
