I noticed this too... The official Japanese timeline shows Alpha Test starts about August 1 followed by Beta Test around October 1. The Beta Test is followed by the PS3 Test in December and version 2.0 release in January 2013. The schedule is so complicated that the reporter might have gotten confused.

Confirmed in an interview here that everything is still on schedule based on the roadmap:

Glad to see it all turned out to be correct. That article was still a slap in the face to anyone who writes professionally.

I'd be more worried over whether it will be a step up from the waste of time/resources/code that chocobo breeding was in FFXI...

I love to have an own chocobo stable with multiple chocobos in my player house!

But it sounds like we will get them AFTER 2.0 in our houses.

4 stalls, one for each type of skill tree there is for chocobos :) The MMO equivelant of a 4 car garage baby!

To be honest, I'm excited about breeding chocobos, but not excited about giving them battle skills. I don't really want to have every class become a pet class as you wander around with your mighty battle-bird.
