Quote:
Nael Van Darnus: Such depth! Such sublimity! Rapture! Complete and perfect rapture!
Gaius Van Baelsar: Perfect? Do you not remember? That day ten years ago was an utter failureāa blemish on the legacy of Garlemald. We learned then we could not control where Dalamud would fall. That is why Meteor was abandoned.
Regarding the quote above, I quote a speculation from a member of my linkshell
Quote:
With this bit of information, I think it'd be safe to speculate that 10 years ago, during the Battle of Silvertear Falls, Garlemald was attempting to bring Dalamud down. The dragons fought against them to prevent this, and ultimately stopped it from happening, but in the process also awakened the primals. The primals may also be connected to Dalamud in some way as well, but that's less clear.
Which leads to my next quote.
Quote:
Ever since Dalamud began taking on a crimson hue, countless theories have been in circulation seeking to explain the anomaly. A great many believe that Menphina's hound is bathed in the blood of a vile fiend who had designs upon his mistress's life, even as others swear that the changes portend the Seventh Umbral Era. Yet another theory, originating from the Holy See of Ishgard, claims that the phenomenon signals the awakening of the great wyrm Nidhogg, who has lain in deep slumber for the past two decades.
I'll let you all speculate on this; but the events link and make sense, the Battle of Silvertear Falls with the dragons, Nidhogg (the wyrm king) being put into slumber and not awakening until he senses Dalamuds approach once more.
