ppl are withdrawing their deposits as far as i'm aware, assuming they will get the house anyway. I just hope they will actually get it instead of some another thing occurs that's gonna make into an another clusterfak of problems.
Maybe make the house free up until patch 6.2, then you must pay the NPC to keep it or lose the home back to the lottery.
I'm kind of ambivalent about this issue. I mean, change the outcome one way or another and it still does not solve the core issue of there being not enough housing. For all the nerve-wracking grief that bidders on the Zero-bug plots went through, I don't really mind them getting some compensation. Could this have been handled better? Most certainly. It seems that the developers are fumbling around a bit. In the end though, the most important issue is making housing more plentiful for all. The Lottery solved the issue of fair access. Now we need more housing to meet the demand.
Seems they don't want to waste developer time making the database to track it, and all the coding to deal with payment and crossing names off the list, and the GM trouble if a FC member leaves the FC and maliciously doesn't pay.... plus a million other edge cases - along with the QA to ensure that nothing went wrong and innocent people's homes weren't destroyed. I mean, imagine a bug where someone who held a large for years and years lost it, because they didn't pay!
I guess it's a case of :- do you want more playable content in the next patch, or instead the Devs to put all that time and effort into reclaiming money instead?
