It's just a big waste of time.
The gear is arguably ALREADY easily available. The dungeons don't challenge you. They're just a time sink that doesn't have to be one.

You don't need to give it "for free."
I just ask you at least have a totem system the way you do with EX mounts and Savage gear.

Why not ? Because it bother some people to grind for stuff ?
Glamour isn't a core mecanic at all either, it's only and just about player's greed to want those.
It's a MMO, wasting ur time is the actual goal since mmos birth and random loots will always be a part of it.
My TEA BiS isn't needed either, but i wanted it so i did grind for it end of the story.
But i guess crying on forums because grind is boring is faster than actually doing it tho

Because the grind has no upper limit.
You can grind forever and not see anything come of it.
That's just player hostile, and it stands in stark contrast with so much of FF14's design that it feels especially egregious.

Grinding in an MMO?
Ok. Have fun.
But this specific grind could stand to get a bit reigned in.

It's more a matter of comparative advantage.

What disadvantage is had by, say, narrowing the loot table to those items not already possessed by those in the instance? Is that disadvantage greater than those of the existing nonconditional loot tables?

Indeed the world must gravitate around some individual while others do accept the rules with mmos, truly funny.

You realize many MMOs do, in fact, use conditional loot tables, often for reasons very much like this?

Why aren't you playing those then ? Oh right, you want everything but not when it bother you.

I hate random loot, and anyone who defends it because it is not concerned to them, or they are too lucky to have its drop in less than 50 runs so they believe the system is okay and are weirdly determined that every unlucky people a whiny and should run a few hundreds more of hopeless run instead of complaining here.



Random loot when it is not a bonus is detrimental in every way. 200 runs without any sign of your preferred piece of glam, how do you justify this outside of "It is RNG, bear with it". Random loot acts as a very bad system on its own: it doesn't not respect player's investment time. People are willing to run 2,000 mentor runs because there is a mount attached at the end without RNG (dealing with Extreme is RNG, yeah, but it is not related to the loot. Worst you just call it a day and move on later). RNG loot is just as bad as making the Jumbo Cactpot ring to be a special prize, so that only very super lucky people can have it and no way to grind for it, but at least Jumbo limits you 3 entries/week so you can just go in and be done with it, unlike the endless glam grind without an end in sight.


Leveling dungeon that gives role-specific bonus piece per run is a fantastic way to counter the frustration of random loot. If a RNG system is made to work in favorite of players (save time) instead of against (waste time), it is a right way to do RNG. This should be applied in every dungeon instead of just leveling.


Talk about random loot, there is this thing that is even worse: Triple Triad card drop. Many of them are exclusive dungeon/trial drops, and grinding them is a wrestle against RNG. You have no way to get them outside of hoping for the best. A trial is at least where you just fight the boss immediately, while dungeons are a much longer run, even unsynced. I believe trial currencies should offer cards at a price of 10-20 pieces, while dungeon cards should have a chance drop to drop all bosses, or drop off dungeon chest outside of personal loot.

Yeah..... weirdo, but also I'm with you lol. Full agree. :D.

I get grind needs to exist at the head of the mountain, for those who can spend near part time to full time hours on a game, but I greatly greatly appreciate when SE adjusts content fairly quickly as the edge moves so people who come in later, not make FFXIV their work, and yet can enjoy most content.

Somethings I think can improve, but at least I don't think they are deaf to the concept. It's why I tried to suggest that glamour + safety net system as to avoid using too much memory while offering two systems at once.
