Just because xaela are nomadic doesn't mean they have to be aggressive. I never understood why people think this when it comes to wanting xaela to be more aggressive. There are a lot of xaela tribes that are really passive and avoid fighting or don't even like it.
Au'ra females were stripped of everything cool that their concept art had. Even the black more 'fierce' looking sclera's the males have in game was robbed from them. I think giving them the option to be taller and having a more highlander-type build option for females would be sufficient. (especially Xaela who are all mostly fierce warriors). The female au'ra in this game look like they can barely lift a 10 lb weight without snapping in half. Also, the fact that they have these large anime eyes with white sclera's and the males have small eyes with black sclera's makes me upset. Female Au'ra could look 10x more menacing with black sclera's, taller builds, and cooler horns like their concept art.
I'm asking myself the same question when it comes to female Xaela's scales. Why are the male ones black while the female ones are blue? I honestly think it actively works against them because the blue scales clash with a bunch of colors whereas black and white work with pretty much anything. So playing a female Xaela actually limits your color options just by your clan choice alone.
Au Ra not Au'ra
I'd attribute it to the simple fact that Xaela had a lot more lore and presence upfront compared to Raen, who were barely present in-game by comparison. Luckily that has since changed.
As for aesthetics, arguably red, gold and white works particularly well with the hue of Raen scales. Though I've even made darker colours work as well.
So long as people avoid the facial option that lacks a defined jaw, I think that they can make a pretty good looking male Au Ra regardless of whether they pick Raen or Xaela.
