Relatively large concern about new Healer: Sage

True there will be people who play SGE and other new job and all will prolly not have clue what they’re doing. Obviously it’s a bigger deal for the healer role, but I’m sure the job will taper out. People will go back to what they do regularly once they either don’t like healing or the shiny wears off. I remember this happening with DRK and AST at the same time. I guess you could say it’s different because it’s a higher level, but I think the same principal of it leveling out will be the same.

I can't wait for all of the suffering.
It could lead into complaints about healing being too difficult, and the almighty DPS players will be unhappy because they couldn't DPS to their hearts content, so Squeen will bulldoze over the healer role by removing and reducing DPS and increasing our healing potencies to indescribable levels to make sure they keep the only players they care about happy. :) (/s, in case you couldn't tell)


Or it'll just be like what happened this expansion: people will deal and move on, and the healer population won't increase like Squeen thinks it will.

We really need a hall of the intermediate and a hall of the expert. :x

Yeah the people don’t want too learn the job they do play and use the sentence you don’t pay my sub when you try to help them. Or people telling they don’t play good rotations because they want to play the way they like. By then you wiped 30 mins on a savage fight in a farm party.

During ARR, plenty of players leveled their classes from Lv. 1 to Lv. 50 only through FATEs and never learned how to play their job while leveling. Things were sketchy, but it eventually worked itself out. We should not be afraid about momentary failures or setbacks in group content. Just relax.

This. It's typically only their first job they learn to play 1 to 50 because it's what they're doing content on and FATEs were an efficient means of levelling. Now we have level jumps, which have been around for a while now. And we get people who'll jump on the bandwagon with this job, like we got with DRK and GNB but it will taper off once people get bored and move back to their preferred jobs with some taking it on permanently the latter of which would be existing healers or people learning to heal and the people learning most of the time will get better.

I feel like this is a minority? A lot of the time when I offer people help/advice they're more positive about it. But you can tie other incentives to completing them. I mean, I did Hall of the Novice when they came out despite knowing how to play my jobs because there was an EXP ring for it at the end. So clearing it benefited me.

In my opinion Sage and Scholar are reversed in that dichotomy, but that is mostly because Scholar’s better suited to that role thanks to the fairy being able to take on a significant amount of healing burden. If SE actually goes in hard on making Sage emulate Scholar as much as is reasonably required then they’ll get Scholar’s level of oGCD healing but given the preview had them actively using Nouliths in DPS spell casts they likely won’t get an Embrace equivalent. I think it’s more likely that Sage will get raid buffs that are stronger than what SCH can do currently (but worse than AST) and/or a non-pet version of Carbuncle to compensate for needing to actively heal. Being the first ranged auto attack healer would fit in line with that, or maybe the needle guns operate as a passive bunshin strike on heals. Either way I’m expecting its baseline GCDs to be weaker than SCH to compensate for whatever form of DPS compensation they get.
