Please fix the “naked queueing” for Aliance Raids

People do that because the subsequent raids are so much longer and less enjoyable. The roulette is already of questionable value. "Fixing" it would likely just result in fewer people doing the roulette, which makes it harder to do CT and doesn't help you fill raids for HW/SB stuff.

Honestly, it's not fun running old content endlessly when that old content wants to keep pretending it matters. CT is my favorite alliance raid set and the only alliance raid set I do other than the Nier stuff (and I'm only enjoying that at all because of how much I love Nier Automata). Of course, I have no use for the roulette. I only ever specifically queue it to do WT.

I don't know how many times I've had to say this, but no, it doesn't have that great an effect.

The lower level Alliance Raids are already far more likely to trigger due to the fact that lower level characters are more likely to queue for them, as Alliance roulette gives one of the best EXP rewards. Add to this the fact that players are more likely to have unlocked the lower level ones over the higher level ones.

If in any instance, you have just one player out of 24 who is below level 60, then it doesn't matter if any players queued 'naked' you were always going to get that raid.

Lets say for example, the chances of queuing into an specific raids were as follows: CT: 80%, Mhach: 10%, Ivalice: 7%, Nier: 3%.
If they managed to disable this ability to queue in below ilvl, then it would probably end up being: CT: 75%, Mhach: 12%, Ivalice: 9%, Nier: 4%.
So it's probably not worth the effort to find a work around.

If they did want to prevent it, then they would need to make the Roulette have the same minimum ilvl as the highest Alliance Raid currently unlocked, and then moderate that based on the characters current job level.
For example, if you had unlocked all the raids up to Ridoranna Lighthouse, then Alliance Raid Roulette would have a min ilvl of 335, but if you then swapped to a job that was level 59, the min ilvl would have to change to 90.
That's two dimensions of dynamic requirement adjustments, when no other queue option has anything but a single static requirement.

Here's how they fix this problem. Whatever your level is on your current class, you must be able to meet the minimum ilvl for the ARs you can do at that level that you've unlocked before you can enter the roulette. Meaning if you're level 70 and have unlocked all of the SB ARs, you need to be able to enter Orbonne Monastery with your ilvl, else you cannot queue for the roulette. If you're level 60 but haven't unlocked the ARs for HW, you just need to meet the minimum ilvl to enter WoD before you can queue for AR roulette. Etc etc. It fixes this problem permanently, because you cannot cheese what you get if queuing solo.

Finally a workable solution that doesn't screw anybody over. They have the tech (Bozja also up- or down-syncs you to level 80/ilvl430). Assuming character level matches story progression is naive at best and would punish many players that haven't finished the story grind. Splitting the queues would segregate the population and risks draining the pool of those needed to fill in for the now mandatory CT. Scaling the xp payout would just re-create the Praetorium or Bust problem.

I have an alt with level 80 SCH/SMN jobs that has yet to step into Stormblood. Many of the suggestions would lock her out of Alliance Roulette because she doesn't even have access to Ivalice much less NieR. By pure luck the level 70 SMN quests do no require access to Stormblood areas so her best SMN gear is a mix of AF (ilvl290) and augmented Shire (ilvl270) which is nowhere close to the ilvl465 required by Puppet's Bunker.

Obviously that's a somewhat unusual example. I have another alt with the Road to 70 buff that's a hair away from 60 and just finished Praetorium. She'll be 60 after getting through Labyrinth. Certain proposals would prevent her from using Alliance Roulette before she even unlocked Syrcus because she didn't have the Sky Pirates raids unlocked.

Ilv cheese isn't really the problem. A player can do that to ensure they get a CT raid instead of leaving it to chance that at least one player is below 60, but because this roulette rewards exp, it is almost guaranteed that you will not get the most recent ARs. Oddly enough, every time I say this I get tossed into Copied Factory or Orbonne the next time I use the roulette. Joking aside, based on observation alone it does seem that those needing tomes and those needing exp are split pretty evenly, and the roulette is working as intended. Because of that, I don't see the devs changing anything.

As with dungeons, there are multiple camps so there is next nothing they can do to please everyone. There is my previous suggestion where they toss the most recent ARs into its own roulette. However, if this idea was brought up by someone in the dev team, I am guessing it was/would be shut down because there just aren't enough ARs released in a given expansion.

Going back to your suggestion, I think it sets a bad precedent to prevent access to the roulette after previously having access to it. I think this only works with Expert roulette due to the nature of it being max level content.

What bad precedent though?

If people want access to the (completely nonessential btw) alliance roulette they'd just need to unlock the appropriate raids (which would be easier to queue for since no one could ilvl cheese the roulette that's supposed to help them pop) by doing some casual content.

Theres no gatekeeping here, it's just asking people to play the game they sub to... or not, but then also not get a free handout of exp/tomes/whatever.

I actually feel a lot of the roulettes (and my characters are not in max ultra uber current gen gear with maximum upgrades etc by any means), are just a waste of time. Gear treadmill games like this one do not usually maintain my attention for long. And the gear treadmill is among the least interesting aspects of this game to me. I'm probably an "older" gamer by modern standards, I'll be 40 in a few months, what I do enjoy is the actual aspect of the MMORPG I think people should be playing them for, friends. You know, log in go do something with your friends. And this game finds ways to divide and separate you from any kind of social aspects.. It also doesn't help that a lot of people log in to upset or agitate people or say something the typical 12 year old would someone doesn't play a game exactly like they would and most people don't have the thickness of skin/heart to tolerate dealing with adolescent comments. So what you get is a whirlwind of p.o'd people / factions/ haters etc all vying for top dogness and begging for whatever gives them satisfaction, while remaining pitted against each other..

The result more often than not by this company seems like big choices made to kind of gently foster along people who hate each other pretty much, and it's real hard to please "everybody" with any kind of choice. There's a lot of grey area too I think the devs don't want to get into. Couple of really good suggestions I've seen in this thread that I think the community would have to TRY to hate, the separate tiers of alliance raid is a good one, I think my own suggestion was pretty good, but the whole point of an MMO is to play this game (respectfully, I believe that should be an implied aspect of good living in general) with others. So rewards or whatever aren't really the point in the first place. I mean I guess they could be, but sounds to me a lot of people just aren't even doing the alliance raid to begin with and it is reward dopamine they are seeking. Tomestones, maybe the additional gil and xp for being a role in need they are after.. Who knows at this point aside from whoever is doing the queue'ing.

If the devs are happy to leave this roulette alone, and make no adjustments, consider adding another roulette specific targeting glam options, maybe the same raid, same difficulties, same reward bonus, but no adventurer in need tied to it, and no tomestones maybe. Maybe a ton of people would not queue for it. Maybe 23984u23984 would just for glams, but the gear that drops in that roulette is only a "fake" version of that gear that would drop from the normal roulette and would only serve as glamour, no real stats, equippable by level 1 characters, etc. That MIGHT help, and give incentive for people to queue for it.

It's not really a bad precedent, nor is it hard to do. Hitting the minimum ilvl for Orbonne Monastery alone is just i365. The augmented Poetics gear from SB is i400. That's more than enough wiggle room and easy enough to hit with poetics.
