You know, I don't think it's a bad idea at all.

Being able to "rent" would effectively grant you shared house status, so you'd gain all the perks of house sharing. To avoid abuse however the renter would purchase 1 month/3 month/6 month contracts which the landlord cannot revoke, only the renter can cancel (they'd lose the gil they paid like when abandoning a private room) and contracts would be paid in lump sum for both owner and renters protection.

They could even add an optional buy setting where if they owner has decided to give up the house, the Renter would get first refusal discounted at however much they've paid on their current contract.

I'd imagine something like that would be tricky to implement but it does sound interesting.

Yes lets enable the house hoarders to KEEP the properties AND make money off them , reducing the incentive to release unused homes EVEN MORE.

It's about having a faster computer and lucking out on the RNG of logging in on "new ward day".

Nothing to do with dedication or difficulty.

I have my medium house because I logged in on new ward day without getting errored out and ran to a random new ward and HAPPENED to be able to load in before anyone else. It wasn't a matter of dedication, just pure luck.

RNG-sus blesses you with a house or they don't.

Buying during demo dropouts? YOu're the lucky one who happens to click on the placard right when the timer runs out. You don't even really have to sit there and click.. just try for a little while every day. You have about the same chance as anyone else that you picked the right time.

I’d be in favor of having a housing broker like in real life. You can put the house up for sale and SE takes 15% of the sale fee as a gil sink. Just like in real life, there is a limited supply of houses and not everybody can have one but if you work hard and save enough money, you may be able to get one. That in my opinion is better than trying to win click the placard contest.

Yeah, sound idea.

The people who have 20+ houses would just make even more money and would think they're kind of the real estate bosses or something like that, so please no. ;D
