5.3 A response to the AST "balance" changes

Death was punishing for ASTs before, too. It was just not quite as severe as it is now. The increase in severity of that particular punishment is most likely unintentional and borne from a lack of understanding of exactly what was changed. As for what evidence exists to support that there is a lack of understanding... Last year's entire "rework" should suffice, no? Especially the bit about Energy Drain being removed?

ast is the one punished the most from dying out of all healers. comparing missing lilies or aetherflow to Divination doesn't hold water.

sch can die and get chain stratagem in time. dancer, ninja, dragoon ; pretty much any buffer can die and get their buffs up in time.

ast dies Once for whatever reason and their entire buff alignment gets screwed for the whole fight. before you could recover with sleeve draw but now its pretty much impossible unless you died with only 1 seal. to compare that to losing afflatus misery is ridiculous

I understand. it does not, however change the fact that death punishing you by disrupting your class mechanic in some way is something that is not only not an AST only problem but also should be something that stays in the game.

If they didn't remove royal road we'd never have had any of these issues to begin with.

im not disagreeing that death should be punishing there should also be a reasonable way to recover and get back in the groove of things. when a scholar dies they lose their fairy snd aetherflow but they can quickly summon it back and use af when it comes off cooldown and get back on their feet. ast however just stares at their seals and has to hold onto divination for the next buff window, likely more than 2 minutes after they died.

Like i said, no other buffer in the game has to delay their buff for so long if they happen to die; they can just use it where intended after getting up.

if sleeve draw had a shorter cooldown itd be easier to recover from death. the only other option i can think of is letting you use Divination without full seals with largely reduced effectiveness just so you can keep the buff aligned for the next buff window

Sleeve Draw (Renamed to Celestial Alignement) : 180s CD, Instantly grants three different Seals, overwriting previous held ones, if any.
It also grants "Revealed Divination" for 15s, which will cause your next Divination to become improved and grant a 8% increase in damage rather than a 6%.
