Wow.. discrimination in game?..... No thank you.
I think we have enough of that in the real world. We don't need hate effecting us in our play time too.

Maybe the entire concept of matrimony doesn't exist in Eorzea to begin with.
I think some sort of 'player unions' will happen in game. AND I strongly believe that it won't matter the gender or race of the couple. I'm basing this on 1. FFXI Weddings, 2. My Female NPC is very suggestive towards my female character 3. It fits more with modern times/values. 4. Just because your character is female DOES NOT mean YOU are female in RL.
As to whether people will want this in game, I can think of at least 5 couples alone in my 2 linkshells that would immediately sign up. BTW, at least 2 of these RL couples (who are man-woman in RL) both play as female characters in game. So to deny them the right to 'marry' simply based on the gender of their character is silly. Most players who want marriage want it in game to SHOW they have someone in RL (or a very very close in-game friend) they are 'paired' with.
Yes please, But must have a divorce system as well :p
I want alimony and child support. As a beautiful miqo'te (cat), I'll never have to farm again. :D
I hated the original wedding system in XI where you had to get a friend to book it... In the end me and my RL husband ended up waiting til they revamped the wedding system so you could buy your supplies from the coffer, then we hit up the hostel in Whitegate for an LS party.
I think something along these lines for 14 would be great. Give us a venue, the box of supplies, maybe some fireworks (Who doesn't love fireworks!?) and let us take care of the rest! Honestly... It's much more fun than having a really strict GM type person officiating things ><.
Hell, on the subject of instances, it'd be nice just to have one of those social instance places per city, it'd be a nice place for Linkshells to gather and such. :O
