It shows enough about the mount, unless you want to make dumb excuses to win an argument on the Internet. That would be your problem.

Unobtainable minions - 29Quote:
You can easily get most of the mounts/minions without spending a dime on the cash shop.
Mogstation / purchase only minions - 45
Unobtainable mounts - 16
Cash shop only mounts - 20
Thats a lot.
Additionally, the only 2-seater mount currently available purely through in-game methods is locked behind 2,000 mentor roulettes.
Add to that the enormous amount of "only used as a reward once in 2014/2015 but you can buy for $5" housing items (of which there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many), and it does add up.
I like the idea of having limited items, to say "I beat x when it was relevant" or "I've been playing since the start" but 14 goes well beyond what you can say is reasonable, especially with those 3 categories.
There really isnt a reason why they shouldnt cycle old seasonal event rewards back onto the vendors for those events, that solves a good chunk of the issue.
play the game or wait for the items to be put in the store. If you dont like that then I dunno what to tell you. Yes pvp sucks but if those mounts weren't in there no one would do them. That and itll just be behind something else that's hard. It wouldn't be given too you. You'll always have to work for them. Or spend money. Those are your only choices.
I actually don't like the idea of "I beat x when it was relevant, now you can't get y anymore." It speaks to a broader problem that FFXIV has with making old, but legitimate, content no longer relevant. It's a wasteful approach that prevents people from enjoying all that the game has to offer and ends up encouraging the rush-to-endgame mentality.
Items from limited events on the other hand, I'm just fine with, since their whole existence is predicated on a limited timeframe of availability, and as being mementos of a given event in the game. I'm also fine with the cash shop for now, because nothing on there really grabs me. I prefer the in-game mounts.
The E4s mount is an accessible in-game multi-seater mount for anyone who wants to put in the work for it (especially considering echo + gear in 5.2 is going to nerf the difficulty of the fight even more in the near-future).
Unless you want to nitpick that it has 4-seats when it still serves the same function as a 2-seater.
I don't think there's anything wrong with unobtainable items.
It's part of a living breathing environment that in an MMO.
Thats fair, and my approach to it comes from seeing it in small doses for decades now.Quote:

My WoW account has several raid tiers worth of "Did every achievement when this was relevant content" mounts, which is basically the same mount you already could have 13 of, but colored in the "only used for achievements" way (Pitch Black and "rotting flesh gray" was the cycle in Lich King, if i remember right, there may have been a "really dark red" for one of them. The horse from the icecrown 10man achievements was a generic human horse but had a special barding on it based on your faction), but they werent anything overly special. My EQ paladin has an item that was removed from drop tables within a couple weeks of VT going live (for no reason anyone has ever articulated) and it looks like... a generic shield you can buy at level 1 for like 5 platinum. But only 3 or 4 existed in the world ever, and its a sentimental thing.
but the thing was, in those games, your seasonal items were a re-skin of every other item from that season. Having one Wolpertinger was the same as having any of the other 5 wolpertingers, only one was brown, one was dark brown, one was light brown, one was gray, one was white, ect.
To put it in 14 terms, it would be like getting a red set of dream clothes and a polar bear one year, a green set of clothes and a gray bear the next year, a slightly different shade of red set of clothes and a brown holiday bear the next year, a slightly different green set of dream clothes and a light brown holiday bear the next year, and so on.
Not "I got a bear and an igloo, a tree and a set of glam this year" and the next year getting a limited use pine-cone firework and a limited-use 5 pixel by 5 pixel cake display.
Is it? Neat. I just use my car, but I guess there is an option for the new alts.Quote:
