Honestly, No.... and as I respectfully disagree, I shall offer a few other worthy suggestions.
Dont get me wrong, I like Shantotto... heck, even my NPC Companion in-game is based on the Shantotto-like female Lalafell... but I just think there are other FFXI related charcaters that could be just as popular.
There's Gilgamesh and Aldo... they made it fashionable to be a Tenshodo member... and who could ever forget Aldo holding Tavnazia like a jewel in the opening CS? I still insist that SE shoulda made a back-story of his growing years.
Hilldibran, Lion and Maat are also definates (as posted by a couple people above) and definitely someone like Tenzen... he re-defined how we all viewed the Samurai job class.
Other choices are Serpent General Gadalar, the freaking Ark Angels (I still love their gear btw), the Shikaree X, Y and Z assassin sisters, Prince Luzaf, Lord Excenmille (another Dragoon-like NPC where we never found out what happened to his Wyvern). Even that psychotic Eald'narche could make the cut... fancy the Garleans having an Emperor like him?
*(Shrugs)*... like I said... plenty of choices... Im just kinda tired of the Shantotto wagon now.
