My problem with leveling up in FFXIV.

Please look at OP's level, they are lvl.51 and most likely stuck in the worst part of the game in terms of story. Those 100+ filler quests are not fun. If they wanted to quit or if FFXIV wasn't for them they would have most likely done so by now. Complaining about a game doesn't always mean that you hate said game or that the game isn't for you, sometimes people complain about games because they're passionate about said games and wish to see them improve. Telling OP that the game isn't for them without bothering to have a proper conversation with them is just shutting down what could have been a positive discussion.

To OP: The story has a lot less filler once you enter Heavensward. Also, I would like to point out that Yoshi P actually agrees with your stance. He has talked about wanting to trim down those ARR quests to make the storyline more enjoyable.

I would probably just level boost or play a different mmo.
FFXIV is very story heavy and that's not going to change.

If your time is so limited I would just play a game where they just tell you you're a random person. Go have fun. I suggest BDO.

If you insist on FFxiv nothing to say but suck it up and do the msq.

I would say you can do place of the dead but that's boring to me personally but lots of people like it.

So I say just do like an hour of msq then the next hour do stuff like gold saucer, place of the dead, fates, pvp (while people are doing to get limited gear), level other jobs, play with the squadron.

So wait you respond to this but not my idea about crafting/gathering?? Stop looking to pick a fight with others just because your little crusade isn't going the way you expected.

To be fair I'm lvl 58 on my summoner and I'm in heavensward now. In fact I just got to a point that I can't move forward until I hit 59. It's more interesting that ARR for sure but the msq still takes a lot of running around talking to people and whatnot. And that's ok, it just seems like when I have an hour or two to play and I spend that time reading and traveling....well it feels like I'm not actually playing I guess.

I saw your reply as I was leaving work and could not reply at the time. Then I saw your last comment and didn't feel the need to reply to the first one. And no I have not done any crafting at all...yet.

Exactly. Square Enix added a lot of quests to ARR to draw it out because the next expansion was not ready. The grind gets to you and makes ARR less enjoyable than the other expansions.

I cannot wait for the patch that removes the busywork quests from ARR. I may even level my 32nd level ninja. :D

OP, welcome to the XIV forums where the rabid XIV fans will pounce on you for the slightest of complaints.

For some of the earlier responses in this thread:

1) No, just because someone doesn't want to spend all their free time doing MSQ, it doesn't mean that XIV isn't for them.
2) Early questing is a slog. So much so though SE is revamping it. Instead of berating people who don't love every last minute of it, maybe just accept it's not the best. SE has.
3) Chocobos have been referred to as chickens for AGES. This goes back well before XIV days. I seriously can't believe this is the panty twister for some of you.

I can't figure out if you're really this dense or if you're trolling me. Yes the last thing I want to do at night when I don't have much time is read and run around a map talking to different people. I don't understand why that's so offensive.
