This is why tanks are being dumbed down more and more with each expansion.
Next expansion i expect us to have 6 abilites, 1-2-3 combo, 2 defensive cool downs, (insert cool down here)

With my keypad’s 20 keys, I can bind 18 of them and set aside 2 for shift and control.
I have 54 keybinds with ease.
You could do close to that with a standard keyboard by moving keybinds around to comfortable things for your hands to hit.
I do think the modern action gaming sustems with 3-8 abilities and hitscan aim targeting is better... but I don’t see the lack of enough keys to bind as a problem with the style of game engine we have here.
no one holding you back. stop complaining that everything is hard!
you're one of the many reasons se made all classes types to have the same skills with different names!
tank mode, 1 range pull, 1 aoe for aggro, 1 taunt, 3 hit combo, mitigation coold down, resist dmg coold down, cool down that make you immune to dmg for a brief period, ressource restoration cooldown self heal// group heal,
same for healers. if peopel woudl stop complaining that everything is too hard this game woudl be insane challenging
Everytime I peek at threads such I this, I kept wondering:
- don't you guys ever rebind keys
- is wasd so engraved in people's thoughts, that they don't even bother considering (far) more optimal setups
- am I the only person on the planet putting ctrl/alt/shift on my mouse buttons to trivially quadruple shortcuts around my left hand, so I don't have to move it, ever ?
Both Stormblood and Shadowbringers have removed abilities - Heavensward, on the other hand, ONLY ADDED abilities. I dont think a single ability was taken away from any job between the start of ARR and the end of HW. You know what the solution was to that for those that only had bindings for those specific skills?
Redesign your hotbar.
It's that simple. If you cant fit all your skills on your bar and be comfortable with it then your hotbar/keybind setup is lacking. So, change it, move things around, the UI is very customisable in this game. At worst, it'll take you a day or two to get used to them.
I myself redesigned my hotbar when i started HW, and i actually had a lot of fun doing it - Everything looked completely different afterwards, the map was in a completely different place and everything was just the right size, my hotbars were customised just the right way and centered to allow me to see cooldowns in my peripheral vision so i could see whats coming off cooldown without even having to look down. I also moved my heathbar and the enemy target bar, buffs and all that, to the center, so all i needed to do was look at the middle of the screen to see everything including making it so i could watch one place and dodge aoes and do my rotation at the same time. For example, one common thing healers do is move the party list to the middle of the screen so they are staring at the middle of the screen so they can dodge easier, instead of staring at the top-left corner all the time.
Removing skills just because you dont want to create your own solutions to your own personal problems with your hotbars is quite the stupid thing to suggest. Find solutions to your problems first, and if you cant find a solution, then you can ask, if that doesnt work? Then, and only then, can you complain.
