Technically it's not allowed.
So do DPS meters.
But you know they still work.
These are grey areas.
SE has no way to tell if someone uses either unless you post screenshots and videos with it.
Even then screenshots and videos are not hard proof for bans since according to SE they can be edited.
I really doubt they will do anything against modding though part of this because it requires too much effort to develop anti cheat methods for something that's purely cosmetic and visible only on your side.
Like I said keep low profile and don't ask/don't tell in game or in the official forums.
Or they can officially allow 3rd party plug ins like ESO does but I guess that's overly complicated due to policies and security.
Yes it is very amusing how you blow it way out of proportion. Its a nice try to fire a personal shot out with your try to insult me, it just doesn't work.
Like i said this is overreacting and modders know what they've modded so they know pretty certain that you wear something else. But its fine, you can all feel completly offended by something that doesn't influence your gameplay at all.
I don't see what is the big deal about mods tbh. I'm not a huge fan of over-the-top mods like huge modifications or assets used from other games being put on ffxiv (most of these, including hairs, look weird anyway), but some like facepaints and retextures, also color tweaks since there are gear that is not dyeable or it is but in a weird way are very useful and harmless.
I couldn't care less about how my character look for one specific person that decided to mod their entire game tbh.
If Se doesn't ban bots despite them exhibiting tons of obvious red flags, it's basically impossible to be banned for something that's only visible on a client-side level unless you actually talk about it.
