Welcome to 2018 where you only rent software. Read the ToS. MMO's you rent access to a server, nothing more. You don't own the game client, you don't own the character you play on the server, you don't own anything in the character's inventory. Thus you are entitled to exactly nothing with a MMO. If you break the ToS, SE bans your account, your characters, and you have no recourse at all. You could spend 8000 hours on the game, and it's gone in an instant.
That wasn't the point I was making anyway. The point I was making is that people have this entitled point of view that if the status quo changes, the company should bend to their will to restore it. People do not like change, especially changes that impact them more than others.
