Has anybody actually made friends through FFXIV?

Yes! I've lost touch with some since they stopped playing, ones that I'd chat with over PS4 a lot which is only done when I get to know someone and can call them a friend.

One, though, has become one of my best friends. We talk and play together everyday, and we have visited each other multiple times now IRL. They are coming to visit us again in July, and we are even going to our friend's sister's wedding. We're family now :o

I used to, back when I was on Behemoth.
My old FC, and a few dudes I constantly bumped into during primal ex pugs. Extremely cool dudes, the lot.
Then I transferred to aether because my IRL best friend had other friends there, and I was out numbered 1 to 5 transfers.
I regret that. Aether is extremely toxic, over dramatic, basically highschool.
I just left my 8th fc on cactuar and Im pretty much playing solo.
Wish I could transfer back to behe, but I just got a house, and im reluctant to lose my 18 mill+ investment on that lol.

One of my best friends I met on WoW back in like 2008? We make it a point to meet up (only live ~2.5 hours away) several times a year and just hang out and have a gaming weekend IRL. We play less games online than we used to as I'm on break from WoW and they won't touch FF14 or any other MMO.

I'm heading up to see them in CT 2 weeks from now actually.

i flew 12 time zones to attend the wedding of someone i met through XIV, so yea.

half of my social circle is from XI/XIV, the other half are from HS/college (none of them play MMOs).

I've met a lot of awful people in FF that taught me some hard life lessons, but I also met some really great people that made it more than worth it.

More than a friend - I met my wife in an MMO (SWG). And yes, I've made friends in other MMOs...and in this one as well.

Not yet, as I'm still a relatively new player in FFXIV, but I'm sure they'll come eventually.
