And that opens the door to abuse. Someone at 99% durability instead of 100%? Let's take their gil away because we want to troll (not saying you will personally, but trolls will). There's a fine balancing act here. That's why I'm ok with being able to repair others gear but not forcing it upon them. Yeah, you'll potentially run into another bad player, but it's only the vote kick initiator that gets the 4hr cooldown. You have 2 other party members who can potentially initiate that vote kick. Sure SE can rebalance the cooldown on it, but they're trying to prevent abuse, which your force repair and taking their gil away system will cause. You can't account for everything, but I don't think replacing one set of trollish behaviour with another set of inherently abusive behaviour will help.

How about allowing you to leave and reenter the instance? This would allow a player to repair their gear and would likely require less wait time than kicking and finding a replacement. If the refuse to go fix it or start trolling by leaving and not returning they could still be kicked.

This happens how frequently? I have a hard time buying this is an epidemic far and wide ... and the OP wants to stop development on other more important stuff in order to develop something that will fix a problem they have probably only experienced once in their life and likely will not experience again.

While finding a solution to this is not needed, I do agree that we should be able to repair other people's gear. It should be via request from the owner of the gear (like it was in 1.x). Requester must offer either the dark matter (if they have it) or the gil (locked to value of dark matter). If gil is offered and the crafter has the dark matter then they get the gil. If gil is offered and the crafter does not have the dark matter then they get and lose nothing. Can be done in open world or instances.

I agree with you on that. In the past month, I've ran into one person who has said they had broken gear...and that was in Rabanasty at the final boss.

In no way, shape or form was what I said and the way I said it rude or have anything to do with elitism. The healer was instantly dying from standing in any aoe, heals doing nothing on the tank and he had heavensward level hp values. If you are signing up to do Content with others and you are doing something that intentionally impedes your groups progress, trolling otherwise, you deserve to be called out and believe me what I said pales in comparison that what I've seen other not-so-tolerable say towards others in a similar situation. If a player queues as a healer or tank, and once the duty starts, the game should just auto-repair their gear as a bonus reward for queuing as a healer or tank.

Preventing being able to queue when gear is below a certain percentage would definitely help, but I hate the idea of SE having to implement fail-safes when something like gear condition is ridiculously easy to manage. Why do so many players need their hands held?

Setting aside any argument in favor of helping people, this is an MMO. They can't clear content for them, but they can at least try and make sure that one player's carelessness doesn't impact the play time of anywhere between 3 and 23 other people.

Aren't dark matters cheaper than using npc? Even more so since it repairs to higher quality.

I do find it odd how there is an auto-translate for "Can you repair it for me?", and yet there isn't a way to repair others' gear. I was confused for a while upon discovering that phrase in the dictionary.

In my opinion, you should be able to ask someone to repair your gear in an instance if you are unable to do so yourself. Sure, it's not something you can rely on (being that there may not be someone capable of the repairs), but it would alleviate some cases where someone genuinely missed the message. I like the idea to make it so that it's possible to repair someone's gear by either using their own dark matter, using your dark matter and receiving gil compensation from them, or just using their gil.
As for forcing repairs on another player... no. If a player doesn't want to accept your offer to repair their gear due to them stuffing up, then they shouldn't be in the duty.
