I Really Really Really HATE that spinning finger mechanic. It is a pita to try and reach that small stupid circle to dodge the instant death mechanic on the last boss. Only thing I seriously cant control and get right as it is pure RNG. Other than that i think everything is great in the new 24 man.
BTW i dont even try on that finger thing anymore i just stand and die and hope to get rezzed because it is just that stupid imo.
Well in fairness, unless you're in Group B and take the underwater path littered with the readable passages, there really isn't anything interesting.
Misdirection is easy. As long as you don't panic, it should only take a second or two to get yourself moving in the direction you want to go.
I found it irritating the first few times I experienced it, but now it's one of my favorite mechanics and I move around perfectly fine with it.
I actually find it easy to do with the controller. Start going in one direction, if it's wrong, stop right away and try again. Takes me usually just two times of moving to get to the safe spot(both going towards, just first one is not directly at).
The flashing of the mask is fun to watch people panic with. I waited until after the raid(partially because I'm on PS4, and even though I have a keyboard hooked up, it drops my DPS massively if I need to switch my hands from controller to the keyboard; and because the people I was running with wanted to blind fight it) to explain it to those that wanted to know.
Most of the frustration that I see isn't THAT people are still learning. It's with HOW QUICKLY people are learning. If you die to a mechanic once and then not again, cool. Good job. If you die to the same mechanic 5 or 6 times in a row... You're dead weight. The problem is that there are a lot of people in Rabanastre that simply cannot learn these mechanics. I watched a healer die to command towers probably 8 times over the course of our attempts at the second boss. At some point, it's like... Are you even awake, bro?
I hate the spinning finger, but it is flipping brilliant. I don't want anything about this raid changed. I love it, even the punishing parts.
Haven't had any supremely nasty people in the runs I've done. At worst someone said "tanks please turn on your monitors for this boss" because nobody was grabbing adds on the first boss and they were murdering healers lol.
