Not sure how being able to buy a mount with 99 tokens invalidates a primal, I don't think there's a single primal I've run 99 times yet (at least not one which gives tokens) and I have a mentor crown by now.

If they see this as a solution to long queue times for certain classes - it might very well be. But at what cost to the traditional overall mmo culture - which this game used to pride itself in? There are far better ways to handle the queue situation than guiding players to be an isolationist bot controller.

Actually I do understand where both of you are coming from, since I have played EverQuest and EverQuest2 for some time since they introduced Mercenaries.

Unlike FF14, in EQ & EQ2, you can make entire boxed parties easily enough. Here, not so much. And many feel that boxes have ruined the social aspect of EQ & EQ2 since a person can essentially play with themselves.

Now, in regard to FF14, this game is way different in many regards. I want to see how the mercenaries work before I make a judgement (though if regular NPCs in duties and battles are any indication ... ugh. Swear they are dumb as bricks) ...

For myself, I see it as a way to help my sister get back into the game. She hasn't played in over a year, and picked up Marauder again. Just starting her first dungeon. So with her as Tank, my husband as Healer, and me as a DPS, we can bring on a Squadron DPS to round things out. Mainly so we don't have some random being a jerk as my sister relearns things, cause she isn't going fast enough.
