Same situation. Most of the people who still play this game want to be spoon fed. They don't want there to be any penalty upon death. The sad part is, this batch of people make up a very small minority of potential customers. If SE bases its decisions upon what this small group of people want, the game will fail miserably.

actually if you want to use the small minority i would have to say you are the small minority. remember the majority of mmo fanbases play wow. using your logic this game should be exactly that way. i am not a wow player, but wanted to use your scenario.

people want to attack these minor issues when the major focus should be on content and a way to get the new classes in the game. i say minor issue because my main character did run to the camps because that was my choice to get the nodes. there are still a few nodes i do not have on my main and yes i could get someone to teleport me to them, but that's not what i want to do. the key is i have the choice and chose to run them, but if someone else wants to teleport that is fine with me also.

wrong!

in reality YOU are the minority. this can be easily proven by 2 facts; that more players are in ffxi than this game, and that there isn't enough of your kind to sustain it. the majority of real players have left a long time ago.

more content is not going to save this game. the real players did not even play past rank 20 so they did not even care to see all of the game's current content as it is. your "more content" logic is flawed. remolding poop by throwing additional poop on top of it is still poop.

these were the number of subscribers as of 2010. it shows ffxi is less than 3% of the member base of world of warcraft which is exactly what i stated. reading comprehension is your friend. now if you want a bigger percentage of the mmo pie my statement was not follow the trends of a game that has 3% of the biggest mmo. that just means that to follow xi is to make another low market mmo and that is not good business practice. they said they wanted to compete with wow not be slaughtered again.

just so you know most quit pre-20? most that i know on karnak quit at high levels because they had nothing worthwhile to do. those that i know that quit pre-20 quit because the 8 leves every 36 hrs are just repetitive processes that are one after another.

i wasn't refering to how many players WoW has. i don't care about that. i don't want WoW. i want my FF mmo like how it used to be back in the days and said that a player like me is the majority where a player like you is in the minority as to what this game should be....and i gave a factual example that you cannot dis-prove.

no.... by goin off telling me that i was in the minority when i had said the majority of people played wow i was using that as a statement to point out an issue with an earlier point. you post may not have been refeting to wow, but in my own post that you quoted i did. like i said reading comprehension is your friend. here is my post again read really closely that you quoted and said i was wrong and i clearly stated wow. of course my next line said i do not want wow either, but you never bothered to read that part.

the funny part is i agree with the not having people port me around which is why i said i run from node to node, but supported the right for others to play their game as they want. so where does that make it a me or you statement? it just makes you a my way is the only way person.

Argh, you fit in with the majority of Japanese players. It looks like the majority of NA players do not like challenging games. Hence, WOW. You and I are elitest players, and we are a minority. Unfortunately with the way it looks things are headed, MMOs are not our gig... We need to either go back to FFXI or play competitive multiplayer games.

FFXIV is going to fail anyway if it merely tries to be another WOW clone.

belgian i agree with you and argh is that personally i like to run from node to node which is why i am a r50 and still do not have them all. all i was saying is that it was our choice and we do so because we like the adventure. i just don't see how if i have a person in my party and we go to mor dohna and they get the port with us it is hurting myself or others to do so.

if someone would explain why or how this hurts how i play my game i am all ears and will listen.

Well my old ffxi account is gone.. though i just reordered ffxi on steam. Going to start a new char when the servers come up lol.

I'd rather play a game i've pretty much beaten (at least in terms of leveling most jobs to cap) then play ffxiv at this point. Even getting some of the group that i started 11 with to join in.

I still hope this game is worth playing eventually. But i'm going to go have fun with a final fantasy title in the mean time :).
