I just had a thought....
How about strengthening Excognition by letting it be spread by Deployment Tactics?
You have JUST as high of a chance of getting all Spears as you do all Balances.... Each card has the same chance of getting drawn (with the exception of the card active when you use Redraw, since there's no more replacements). Fortunately, we have math on our side... you, well you just have "hard facts" amirite?
You know, as much as people say this, I think they're forgetting the fact that Stoneskin was able to be put in multiple targets. So in the rare cases where we'd have multiple weaknesses, and a boss Ultimate coming up, we could at least shield them both. Or heck, even Stoneskin II being able to give some AOE mitigation at the start of a fight was good. We have absolutely no way to mitigate AOE damage.
But SCH has ways to mimic WHM level healing. It's just weird.
While it's true that all cards have the same chance of being drawn, getting an AoE Balance is not as likely as getting an AoE Spear, mainly due to the fact that the player is making choices to actively encourage one outcome over the other. This is even more true in 4.X, now that AST has both a move to get more chances for the AoE Balance (Sleeve Draw) and a move to mitigate variance (300/500 potency oGCD from bad cards).
Not that I agree the sentiment that Expanded Balance has nearly full uptime; without doing extensive math, I would guess one every 1.5-2.5 minutes on average is what I tend to observe? Balance is still pretty overpowered within the framework of this game, as you're still looking at an extra 2.5% raid DPS and the fact that it's competing against healer personal DPS, which is the lowest of the three roles.
Raid DPS is the difference between what DPS a party can do WITH that player versus WITHOUT them. It is thus the most accurate measurement of the DPS a job brings. So, yes, the 10% extra damage the raid is doing BELONGS to the AST, because it wouldn't exist without him/her.
The problem I'm seeing on this entire forum is that people have issues with White Mage and Scholar (rightfully so, in some cases) and they're taking them out on Astrologians because we don't have "the same" issues. This shouldn't be a White Mage/Scholar vs Astrologian game. It shouldn't be us vs them. We (Astros) are just as frustrated with the current state of WHM and SCH as you guys are! We're behind you! We support your movement... Stop taking your frustrations out on us as if it's our fault...
