What you people don't seem to understand is that this isn't the first time this has happened. The reason people are pissed is because SE knew this would happen just like it did before and then went ahead and did it anyway.

And we still pay for this game! Also yes I have played other MMOs before so I know that there are crashes and stuff like that. Barely anyone would complain if we had some crashes and maintenance but the problem was created by SEs own design choice. They choose to place two long solo instances at the beginning of their MSQ, they also choose to gate everything behind those MSQ and instances are shared between servers of a datacenter..I am quite sure that this would have been way smoother if they did not introduce solo instances that early and if they would have unlocked a whole zone without the MSQ..so yes the horrible EA launch was completely their fault and could have been avoided. So no I dont see a reason to thank them for solving a problem they themselves created..(and did they truly solve it or was is just something that solved itself after quite the hours itself? The only maintenance they had was because of the ruby sea bug)
Also WoW has learned from their launches and it seems that their Legion launch was nearly flawless. The expansion before that was horrible and they gave five days playtime as a compensation. So yes the real competitor of FF14 is seemingly able to get it done better.
I like it, too, but it does have its faults. The game is horribly linear up until you get to Gran Pulse, and by then you're pretty much at the end of the game. Exploration is one of the things people like in RPGs, and until Gran Pulse, it's non-existent. A lack of towns is part of this also. Plus, you can't go back to previous levels.
It also forces party composition on you until late into the game.
I like the level cap system, as it guarantees a certain level of difficulty, but a lot of people don't.
There's also the "it plays itself" complaint, which I can kind of see, but I don't agree with it. There's quite a bit of management to be done during battle.
-Despite the atb roles having some use at the beginning, unless you were hunting big game on Pulse, you could pretty much kill anything with one setup, hence the "all you gotta do is press X" to clear the game.
-While Lightning is very popular in Japan, there are some mixed reception everywhere else
-The extreme linearity at the beginning and mid part of the game did not sit well for a fanbase that has been used (and like) to a style of adventuring for a long time.
-Many would agree FF13 should have been a standalone title. It was not the best of the FF series but on its own, it was actually ok overall. Sequels did not help it at all.
-Hope
-The lack of a persistent villainous nemesis. The FF13-2 fixed this by giving you Caius but FFLR went back into " short-lived villains being part of a greater villain that reveals itself at the very end"
There are more but those were my issues, which I would see repeated by others.
