I had this same problem and posted on the Figaro World Forums because I saw that others were having it on my server as well. Now I seem to be having some general internet issues. I'm on Mediacom in Illinois (still cable internet). Has anybody tried a "ping google.com -t" to see if they are dropping packets? Just curious. I am ranging between 4% and 12% packet loss the last few hours... but I seem to be fine now. Perhaps FFXIV just has a really terrible time handling dropped packets, and the cable providers are having some issues tonight.
ive been on all night fine no lag at all no dc's using qwest or century link as they are called now and usually they dont do emergency maint on the weekends so probably will have to wait until monday to get an answer to this
So, my problems have ceased (for now). To the others who were effected by this: Did you experience anything similar on Thursday night (I did)? It seems that the vast majority of those affected are on cable internet. Has your cable provider recently begun issuing digital converters to customers in your area using older televisions? It looks like other gamers have experienced similar issues when these programs were rolled out in their areas.
