Openly gay characters in ff14

Hmm, while I agree with the idea in principle, I dislike the idea of altering Thancred's sexuality for very much the same reason I dislike the idea of someone trying to alter my sexuality. For Thancred, at least, I'm pretty sure that plane has sailed. For other major characters going forward, however, either those currently left undefined or simply characters who have yet to be introduced, I think the devs could find the viewpoints here useful for characterization.

(Still won't change my headcanon that a certain redhead chose eternal stasis out of despair that his growing attraction to a certain roguish blond Seeker would keep him from fulfilling the "duty" of continuing his family's bloodline.:cool:)

It doesn't need to be Thancred. Just some other major character that is liable to stick around. Someone who isn't an obvious stereotype - and ideally someone who doesn't just become that way as a consequence of fan 'shipping'. I'd also like for them to be classically handsome and conventionally attractive.

Cid and Nero

There are some WoLsexuals who would technically be gay depending on your gender.

Otherwise yeah, I think the wanderer's palace couple is the only explicitly gay couple in the game.

No I don't think there has been anyone explicitly said to be gay since the wanderer's palace hm questline, hints possibly (via jokes to us etc) like "Stupid sexy Roedygyn" guy and the other hot spring male duo in that place but nothing outright stated.

WoLsexuals can be whatever depending on your gender G'raha Tia is gay for my main character but straight for 1 of my alts for example (I take G'raha's affection as sign of a crush).

They ended up getting old together in the Bad ending :P

At the very least, same-sex relations don’t seem to be overtly frowned on considering during the unlock quest for Ishgardian Restoration has Hilda making a crack about WoL and Francel dating regardless of WoL’s gender (and Francel reacts the same way with the “ITS NOT LIKE THAT” response, lol)
