There are so many ways that they could implement this as a drop ingame. If its put on the mogstation instead, and is only obtained via the mogstation, I will more than likely quit.
But - to the point I was trying to make in my post, which you seem to have overlooked:
There are many ways that they could implement this in game. I think it would be stupid if they chose to release it via the Mogstation.
Call me crazy or something if I don't wanna pay 20$+ for a mount, when there are ways that they would implement or add this as a drop to the game.
I don't want to see any more cash shop exclusives.
Also, I almost didn't purchase HW (I did get it on Monday) at all and seriously contemplated it for a long time because of how I felt about the cash shop items they added into 2.0 and how they practically nerfed the entire game - when a lot of people who played at launch put hours and hours into content, that people who only 3 months later could completely face-roll blind. I could go on on about whether or not I wanna continue playing at all, but I'm not doing that here. I'm a FF fan, and that's why I'm currently here.
that said: If I feel that cash shop exclusive items "cheapen" the game to me, than so be it.
Everyone comes and goes for their own reasons, at their own time. For me, the continuous progression or addition to cash shop exclusive items/bonuses are going to ruin my fun.
At least offer the shit ingame.
Fair enough.
however for me, so long as the cash shop items don't go beyond extra retainers in terms of player advantage, i'm fine.
Didn't really care about the fact that Sleipnir was a cash shop onry either. didn't like the mount, and was fine with it even though they could have just put it in the trial. If they choose to add twin to the cash shop, then so be it. will probably be my only major purchase besides fantasia bottles. I was never against the cash shop in the first place anyway. I am however against the notion of the cash shop becoming too big. this is a P2P game after all. most, if not all of the content should be in game, and not behind a cash shop pay-wall. that's what the sub is for. If the publisher wants a cash shop, there isn't much we can do about it besides un-sub en-masse (which accomplishes little), which is why i am fine with it as long as it stays small.
i don't understand how having items being sold in the cash shop that have no effect in game play what so ever besides to look pretty can cheapen a game, it doesn't move any faster, it doesn't give you any stat boosts, it doesn't do anything at all besides look pretty. if it did then yeah.... that does kinda cheapen the game, but it doesn't do any of that. what i do know is that the money they get from selling said item will help pay for the cost to develop more meaningful in game content. because people don't work for free.
might as well not have a collectors edition because the griffon is a collectors edition exclusive instead of having to face roll the griffon boss a ton of times mindlessly for a 5% chance to have a 1/8 chance of getting him.
because we all know that mindlessly spamming the same thing over and over and over enhances everyone's FFXIV experience.
cumulatively, across all subs. they aren't 100% profit. a lot of the money gets funneled back into development.
if that weren't the case, they would have gone with a pure profit model that would generate as much money as possible...and piss off a lot of players in the process.
How I see cash shop that is not P2W (in a P2P game).
I buy food (playtime) each month so I can live (play).
But oh my, that candy bar (cash shop item) looks delicious. Do I feel that it is worth the little extra so I can have it?
It is in no way a must to have it, but if you might want that little extra is all up to you.
