Yup, everything is pretty minor on performance except for the draw quality settings, AO and DoF.

I can relate to this problem though, the game is too dark for me during night-time as well. It's really bad in some areas. Even adjusting my monitor does not really help that much. :/
Lighting in some areas inside Uldah also sucks during the day, some buildings are just too dark inside, strains the eye.
How about this test? Can you see the first row of squares?
I was trying these before (did you post these links a few pages back? Thanks if that was you). I can't actually see the first three squares, but when I change my contrast/gamma I then fail the white squares test until I change it back.
I found on all those tests that it was pretty much better if I just left everything alone. =|
Yup it was me. Not seeing the first 3 squares is actually not too bad, might want to leave brightness and contrast alone and see what you can achieve with gama only.
Sadly if you are on a laptop and even the GPU image controls won't help the only thing you can do is get an external monitor. :/
Oh the days when I used to actually read what dropped off mobs. Literally, it's been way too long.
My screen is wicked blue at night time I noticed just last night. I was like, damn why does my room look blue? And noticed the ground of Ul'dah is blue at night time... every night.
I love the dawn mist look but honestly when it gets really dark I tend to adjust my monitor brightness which is obviously not how a well lit videogame is supposed to work.
I think they should make the "night" effect with a blueish lighting and less darkness because in Gridania it can get really depressing at times.
I don't mean the hauntingly beautiful XI-style depressing more like XIV-I can't see sh** -type of feeling.
I don't know why so many modern games do this. For example in every Fable game the night-brightness is near unplayable but when I play a game like FF VII-X the night scenes were always art directed in a way that didn't step on gameplay.
