I forgot to comment earlier but I really like the idea of having mentors; a lot of the time it's nice to have someone else to bounce ideas off of and tip the scales between two good shots.
I finally got around to visiting the links you posted to help newbie screenshotters (I actually found these posts by going over every page from the start of the thread while I was lurking like 6 months ago XD ) and while I've been trying to use /lockon for months I've yet to learn of a way to make my character face their body anywhere but towards the item I've locked onto. This means that it's always a backshot unfortunately. It also doesn't let me put my character too far off center. How do I fix this?

have the item you want to lock onto behind you and face the camera, then lock on to it,if you move you will face the item though

EDIT: Nevermind I really need to read the thread properly before getting too excited and posting!!
I'm so sad to see you guys go. ;__; I hope you turn up for future competitions, Alexion! From one baby to another!!

Ahhh, now that I've had a little time to process my fleeting victory, thank you all SO much!

A huge thank you to Rhaya, Sariel, Cal and Bonzai - who dutifully stood out of frame with a mini-sun for me to focus on, and had a fleet of Cherry Bomb minions that would float in and out of frame on a whim! It was a roll of the dice to wait for these little bastards to go play with Ba Go's static babies.
I'm so grateful to have them to stand around and take my meek commands.
Also, another thank you to Tinsley who prodded me to use the mount. I couldn't have done it without you. *sparkles*

>_> Well thanks for the mention, but that gif is terrifying me. And you're welcome for the use of my sun :3

Thank you so much for letting me know about that workaround!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's Polar Bear Cafe, probably one of the most non-scary shows Japan has produced! Although Shirokuma does look kind of.... drunk there.
Also, once you've targeted an item, you can move your camera and face it just prior to locking on, and your face will stay in that direction. Had to use that trick for my next round's shot.

Oh! I was trying to do precisely that last night but it never occurred to me to face the camera between selecting the minion and locking on. Thanks again! A whole new world of possibilities has opened up for me. <3
