I agree too OP. There should be more work to them, especially the shoulders. Compared to the artwork, they look rather relaxed and tired.
Here's the thing: 2D artwork is not the same as a 3D model. I do like the concept art, but that's just what it is. It's an idea and direction for the 3D modelers to move in, not to make it look exactly the same. The muscles/shoulders may look fine on the digital paper, but on a 3D model being viewed from a variety of directions and positions, it may look strange and/or just not right unless they were viewed from a certain angle.
Honestly, I think the models look fine. It's basically appealing to fill in two very specific character types - the females are there to fill delicate anime wife mold, far more waifish than any of the current female races, and the men are for guys who want to look badass but not incredibly beefy.
Common sense. We'll get more story related to the dragons and we'll even have more related to that woman that transformed into Shiva. See the corellation.
1. More Shiva soon
2. More Dragon soon
3. Ishgard
4. Au Ra is discovered

The muscle slider, as you know, does practically nothing for the races that do have them. So it's much of a muchness.
Highlander females in particular, it's practically offensive, that the slider range, from "smooth" to "allegedly ripped" - well, what that slider calls "ripped" I would call "mildly athletic" or "a good start", at best.
:)
Like I said, the arms are fine, but their Shoulders aren't particularly muscular, and their torsos have virtually ZERO definition to them. I was to see chiseled features, with a thick, muscular ribcage, because it would give them a more unique silhouette when wearing armor, versus now, I highly doubt you'll be able to tell apart from Elezen, with effectively renders the addition of a new race entirely moot.
It's not like beefing them up is suddenly going to make everything have clipping issues, either. And really, it's not *THAT* big a change I'm even suggesting.
For OP: I think you will be able to customize the "muscles" visibility in character creation but I see what you mean. Well, they are tall enough I think and they are pretty muscular already I don't really know how they could change them.
BUT I would say the same but for female version... why are those Au Ra male so "big" and "muscular" and female Au Ra that "small" and "thin" this doesnt make any sense, they don't seem to be of the same race...
Why again a cute little girl... I don't want to play a child... :/
I would love to play male Au Ra if I was a man, but as I am a woman I will stay with my Roegadyn, as this is the only character which doesnt look like 14 years old.
Like I said, even if the Au Ra DO share some kind of connection to the Elezen, there is simply no reason to have two Races that appeal to the exact same demographic. As someone who isn't terribly fond of the existing races -- I like my Miqo'te, but he doesn't really seem "tough" -- I look at the artwork of the Au Ra, and I see the perfect race. Their in-game counterpart just looks "weak" in comparison.
I'm fine with them having fine facal-features as they already do, but for their actual body, I want something a little more solidly built.
