If there is an error while trying to pay then you should wait for at least 24 hours
because if you try again right away and the same error occur then you get locked out for a certain amount of time (I think 24 hours initially)

If you try again while you are locked out then that ban period get doubled
If you try again then the ban period get doubled again

so you either have to wait for the ban time to expire (they don't tell you how long is the ban in the site) then try again to pay or you contact them and if you convince a helpful agent of your case they will remove the ban.

That is how the system works (at least how I think it does).

I also support the idea of selling crysta cards.

I'm actually curious how much revenue SE has lost over this 401 Payment error, and how much of that has caused people to quit playing XIV because they cant pay them due to said error..

Also its been 48 hours since I last attempted payment, still getting 401 error (so obviously still locked out or there's still global collect issues for whatever reason)

yes we need a dev to step in here and say something, we can't pay we can't play this is bad for you SE we shouldnt have to tell you that

Probably a good amount but maybe not enough to justify a quicker Paypal or another alternative implementation, they've never been good with finances or at addressing potential money making opportunities though, so they're always losing profits in some way. Especially because time cards only buy game time and you can't purchase from the cash shop with them, so that's another major potential profit loss, with how hard they're pushing the cash shop and all. Crysta cards would perfectly solve this, but who knows when or if that will happen.

Massive bump of epic righteousness.

I'm in the same boat; everything I pay for online is done through Paypal. While I have 30-40 days left on my subscription it would be nice for this to be resolved by then. If we never had this option to begin I wouldn't complain. However, I've been using Paypal (to pay for Crysta) for the past 16 months. Please give the option back (^_^)

Ok so I have been having this issue since a week ago which in my case is odd cuz i have done this before. I have used a prepaid visa before to pay for my sub so I bought another one 1 week ago to use on my sub and/or to get crysta to pay my sub. At that point my sub had 36 days so np. I never let it get to late before paying.
Well lucky me i got a 401 error when trying to buy an in game item... >.> so then i tried crysta... also same error... then I got the same error for paying for my sub...
So naturally by then i had tried my prepaid mastercard 5 times.
Now like i said a year ago i paid via the same method no issues on my first try. Yes along my whole gaming time which is since 1.0 the original game was launched way before 2.0 I used paypal which was perfect as i dont have a visa or CC. Now recently my bank upgraded my card to a visa debit which is great also!
So that time i got those errors, I called SE hotline and spoke to a very helpful agent. He told me I had a 5 day ban so to try my card again on tuesday. That was yesterday and I did try again my prepard CC with no luck... So i waited until this morning and tried again but this time on my VISA DEBIT... NO LUCK! and then i tried my Prepaid CC again...
SE WHY WONT U TAKE MY MONEY!?!?!?!
This is the reason i have used paypal! I used to love using paypal because it never once gave me any issues.
I have been waiting and searching everywhere to find out when they are fixing this, if this is even an issue on their side, or if they care at all, or if they even have any updates on using paypal again for subs.
I am very disappointed and now my sub is down to 22 days left....
PLEASE DEV TEAM AND SE HELP! ;___;
