Ah yeah, got mixed up there, lol.
Good point Anonymoose, I hadn't considered that it was his uncle in the coffin.

So Varis won the game of thrones(sorry). I hope he will be pretty active in the story. Is it wrong to imagine him with Crispin Freeman's voice?
On a slightly related note: How much do we know about Garlean naming conventions? With Varis we got a new title. So far the ranks were sas for liuetenants, van for generals, zos for emperors and deus for gods/people with god complexes. Now we learned that before being crowned emperor Varis was named Varis yae Galvus. Yae could be prince, noble or royalty. This still leaves out Nero and Cid. As far as I know Cid was a minister as his father so nan is probably that, but what does tol designate?
Ferne had mentioned he'd try to get some information put together on this at some point, so there's always a possibility of it popping up unless they decide to reveal any significance to their naming conventions in-game through the story~
In the mean time, the general consensus seems to be the following. Most seem very heavily implied or inferred. We do know that the surname prefix / middle name relates to their standing in Imperial society and/or their military (As was mentioned by Ferne in that post), so that makes things much easier to narrow down.
Zos = Emperor
Van = Legatus
Tol = Tribunus Laticalvius
Sas = Tribunus Angusticalvius
Rem = Pilus prior
Nan = Minister? Cid and his father had this prefix, and were both (grand) ministers of industry at one point. They were also both revered engineers in Imperial society, as well as members of the Imperial court, so it could be any number of things.
Yae = This could be related to the royal family. It could also refer to the High Legatus, as that was the station Varis held prior to ascending to the throne.
Actually... maybe Darnus IS Bradamante before she went all out cosplaying a guy.
Maybe her father always wanted a son and treated her like crap.
Maybe it is some Garlean succession rules that no females can have position of power in the Military.
The warrior maiden is her all along.
I'd wager that it sees it's self as a seperate being because it knows it's just an Aetheiric clone of Nael and dosn't pretend to be the Origenal. After all, Neal is Dead. and as far as I know (Having not cleared final coil) Louisoux is also gone and what we see of him is mearly a Clone as well.
