But the game already does have a method to opt-out of certain duties, at least once you're at the point of repeating them. While most of them do have to be run once when you're going through that portion of the storyline yourself, you don't have to repeat them again unless you want to. What's more, it's an incredibly simple and obvious way to opt-out of them, since all you need to do is refrain from opting in.

You're trying to claim here that after you yourself willingly chose to tell the game, "Hey, I want to run Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak now, so find me a group to run it with," that the game is forcing you into that dungeon. It only puts you into dungeons you asked for. If you don't want it, all you have to do is don't ask for it. Don't queue for dungeons you don't want to run. Just check off all the dungeons you actually do enjoy and click the "Join" button, and DF will find you one of those instead.

Unfortunately, of the twelve low level dungeons in the game (fifteen if you count the primal trials, which are also part of the roulette), I really only have an issue with one or two of them. Alas, I can only check five duties at a time in the Duty Finder, so this suggestion doesn't really work in my case. There is also the matter of the daily roulette bonus, which I would be forfeiting were I to simply choose my five favorite duties. As I run low level duties primarily to level up characters pre-50, I would be giving up an awful lot of experience by, for example, running Haukke on a level 43 bard without the roulette bonus.

I suppose it certainly could be interpreted that way, since the game doesn't offer you any way to say "Hey, I want to run any of the duties included in this roulette, except this particular one, so please find me a group to run any of the other fourteen with."

It doesn't really make sense to limit myself to five choices and completely forfeit my roulette bonus simply because I don't want to run one of the fifteen available duties. It makes far more sense to queue for the roulette to keep my daily bonus and run whatever dungeon pops, unless I happen to be unlucky enough to receive the one I don't feel like running.

Anyway, I believe I've made my point by now. I'm not going to convince you that I have no obligation to run a dungeon I hate running, and you're not going to convince me that I should forfeit my daily roulette to avoid the small chance that I'll need to quit a Thousand Maws run. The only reason I posted in this thread to begin with was to comment on Mahri's rather silly first post, since the topic itself isn't really relevant to me. I don't have any healers below 50, I never quit dungeons at level cap, and I don't like tanking, so I'm never exhibiting "healer privilege". The only time I'm leaving duties these days is on my lowbie lancer, and so whenever I do drop out of Thousand Maws, I'm voluntarily giving myself a 30 minute penalty plus another 20-30 minute DPS queue. That's how much I hate Thousand Maws.

It is not a bore, chore, or obligation. You chose to do duty roulette, sometimes you roll stuff you don't want, just like you can't always be dealt a pair of aces. The leave option is always there. But making a pledge like the OP suggested is entirely voluntary.

If you don't want to make that pledge you do not have to. But taking a pledge like this does not turn any of it into a chore or obligation. It is no different than trying to help your friends, the fc, or heaven forbid the community as a whole. The duty roulette provides reward that is being forgotten and taken for granted. Being all self-entitled is what your comment indicates.

Efforts like this help improve the community and helps the whole player base, and removes some of the toxic crap that come from players that just take advantage of everyone else put never contributes back.

Tam Tara - I'll stay, begrudgingly. But if the group insists on getting the chests I'm out
Copperbell - I'll stay, not that long
Halatali - rarely get it, I'll stay
1000 Maws - OOOOMMMMGGG ....+00000, UUUU leave that horrible dungeon so fast!!
Haukke Mannor - Actually fairly short, if chests are avoided and 3rd floor mobs ignored
Brayflox - Too long. .+00 leave dungeon
Sunken Temple - LOL .+00 leave dungeon
Cutters Cry - It's alright if chests are ignored
Stone Vigil - It's fun
Dzemael Darkhold - No
Aurum Vale - NOOO ...+00000 leave dungeon!!

Agree with OP except for the title "check your privilege."

I get that some people see various dungeons, or getting side chests as a chore and an annoyance. However, it's a built-in part of the risk you run when doing roulette. And honestly, is it so much to ask and spend 5 extra minutes getting gear for those it may benefit, or having patience with someone new?

If you abhor specific dungeons so much, just spam Brayflox or others that you do like for your myth/soldiery. Or better yet, make a party finder and find like-minded people. It's not like roulette is the only way to get myth and soldiery by any stretch of the imagination. There are ways for you to get what YOU want without necessarily hampering others' experience.

To all of you divas who think you're too good for certain dungeons:

It isn't all about you! Sack up and do the dungeons. You aren't the special snowflakes you think you are.

Can you please go back playing single player games?
You are obviously not socialised enough to play online games.

The only reason i leave a roulette right after the cutscene is, if the tank in stone vigil has lower LP then anyone else even tho, not everyone is synced.
I just refuse to carry people like this, while putting myself into pain because of it, still i feel sorry for the dps.

For aurum vale.. i was lucky enough to not ever get it on roulette, probly would try it, but if i see the group whiping on the first trash, i dont really see this dungeon getting finished.

That's the reason I created this thread. I can't claim to be the best tank, but I consider myself a good tank, though prone to human error. As a tank, and healers too, we have certain perks. Because of our high demand, we get instant queues, which means we're likely to level faster than a DPS just as dedicated. We should never let that go to our head. People are counting on us to do the best at our job that we can, to continue to be willing to learn, and yes, take the lumps that come with an undesired roulette roll. And should we level a DPS, wouldn't we want a tank and healer to stick with our group even if they don't like the dungeon?

I will run whatever dungeon I'm faced with even if I dislike amdapor I will still do it. :| people should not be doing roulette if they're gonna be picky.

This is why we need cross server blacklists...
