We are posting many reasons why SE could possibly not be doing it right now. We aren't against it.

Blackberry use to have a 15% market share and has dropped so much in recent years because their smartphones and service has lacked over the years compared to bigger shares like Android and iPhones.

Just because they gained some percentage, windows is still a very very low market share and its share is even lower in Japan.

Also SE has been making mobile games for iOS and Android for years. So they know the programming well. They have released only 2 windows phone games and nothing new for it since March of 2013.

I'd put my money on the fact that Microsoft refused to cooperate with Square Enix to bring FFXIV to their platforms.
But then again, it could be anything.

IMO, I'd just use an alternative and call it a day.
Sure, I'd prefer to run it on my WP. It's more convenient. But eh, it's not the end of the world.

Windows is made by Microsoft which everyone playing on PC uses.

Ok, so everyone knows...all it costs to make an app is a small yearly fee to be a "Windows Phone Developer" (iOS has the same type of fee). The OS "shouldn't" in any way effect a developer's ability to implement their security algorithm. If SE is willing to work with me or another developer it shouldn't take long to create a simple authenticator(Security Token) app, even Blizzard has an authenticator app for Windows Phone. I'm sure they could come up with some sort of NDA (non-disclosure-agreement) that a developer could sign so when square shares the required information regarding the security key the developer can't share it without getting sued.

Honestly we won't know there reasoning behind it unless they come out and say it...that being said I'm willing and I'm sure there are other devs out there who would take the time to make this app to help the Windows Phone community.

Steam and Microsoft don't have a good relationship, either (See lack of Steam app for WP).
Their main user base is on Windows.
It's more a matter of principle. Some companies do not support the model/plans Microsoft has with gaming and vice versa (Merging everything with Windows 8/XBOX for instance).

I don't see how SE would need Microsoft's cooperation to bring this type of app to the platform...it shouldn't require any tools that don't already exist inside the Windows Phone SDK.

From what I've seen this has to do with Gabe being ex-Microsoft and having some sort of unholy fascination with spewing misinformation about the platform and trying to get people to move to Linux.

He has a valid point to do so. My edit above is one. Another being that games (Seem to) run better on the Linux version (Clone) that Valve is playing with lately.

Yeah, I agree but that has more to do with Valve spending more time on their Linux versions. I was merely making a point that there was a reason for Microsoft and Valve not getting along. As for SE and Microsoft publicly they appear to have a good relationship when showing off FFXIV 2.0 before it was launched all the shirts they were wearing said "Windows 8" and they were accompanied by Microsoft reps at some of the conventions they attended.

Windows is kind of a universal platform for things though, however much like Windows CE in the day, Microsoft can likely be weird about licensing...but I doubt that's the case here.
