Well don't forget SE can always pull the return from the dead thing that some antagonist always end up pulling and have us fight Nael in a future Main Story Scenario content since Coil storyline is just the prequel to a future Main Story Scenario.

Having already beat Nael van Darnus, it would be a bit frustrating if he came back to life as a main antagonist. However, I'm not against it. If they do it right, it could be pretty awesome! But there are two ways for him to "appear," if at least for a short while:
1. Using the Echo to travel back in time, using one of the Warriors of Light (a Legacy player) as a catalyst. Instead of Darnus just coming back to life, you can relive the memory of Legacy players fighting him. This allows newer players to experience the awesome fight with guidance from older players who have already beat him. It's one thing to tell my friends about the epic boss fight; It's another thing to show them.
2. At the end of the Seventh Umbral Era storyline, Darnus gave his body and soul to Bahamut. Perhaps he could be the boss before you fight Bahamut? He could appear as a vengeful ghost and taunt us during the last, say, ten or so Coils, and then appear at the end with special dialogue for Legacy players who already fought him. Players could use the Echo to learn about his past and finally see what he looks like behind his mask. In this case he doesn't come back to life because he's only a Shadow summoned by either Bahamut or the Paragon. Instead of killing him, we're freeing him from Bahamut's grip and allowing him to finally pass on. For legacy players, this would be a worthy Epilogue; for new players this would be an excellent explanation of the lore.
Also Coil Turn 5. His "return" is inevitable at this point. And for the most part, I'm okay with it. I'm just frustrated in the sense that after all the effort I made to kill him, I guess I didn't kill him hard enough. :)
Well you know the rule of character's death.
If there is no Body then he can always come back. After all...
he simply disappeared after his defeat. Only thing that was left behind was his Gunlance.
Heck they can even bring back Gaius if they want too and slap on the reason he is still alive was because of his full body armor when the explosion happened and his armor protected him from most of the damage.
Aye, it's one of those things everyone has to deal with when playing any RPG. Frustrating, but fun. :) To be honest, I don't know why Legacy players aren't excited about this! Imagine the Legacy-only dialogue? I think Nael van Darnus would have a lot to say to the guy who KILLED HIM.
I killed him as legacy and would LOVE to see him come back. Best villain and final boss fight in a Final Fantasy game since X vs Jecht.
lol. How can he 'hear' that?
Really....
He's not just 'simply' disappeared. His body dissipates at front of us players, turning to glowing dusts. Has similar effect as when characters killed in Final Fantasy X. Watch it on utubes for proves. lol
lol who says FFXIV & FFX has any relations? It's just the effects. Plus... post FFX do use similar effect when characters got killed. Heck... even FF7 from movie version onward does use these effects. :p
In Post FFX the disappearing effect for characters still remain only for Spirits. Even with Sin defeat Fiends still remain in the world of Spira.
FF7 movie had characters or enemies disappear like that because they are manifestations created by energy. They were never physical beings such as those Dark hounds that were sent at Cloud during the beginning of the movie.
( i'll stop discussing it here since we both have our own beliefs on what Nael body disappearing means)
Only if I were a sad individual who thought 'things' my characters have in an MMO matter to anyone but me .. and yes, I have this mount on my main character on Hyperion, I got it by simply walking to somewhere outside Limsa and talking to an NPC, it was sooooooooooooooooooooo hard and epic.
