Crafting leves are separate, so why not harvesting?

Yes, you can fill all 8 slots... with leves that give you almost no or literally no xp. Harvesters can do the same thing.

As a rank 40ish alchemist, have you ever had a leve reset in which you were able to fill your journal with 8 level 35, 40, and 45 alchemy leves? I guarantee you that you haven't because that many don't exist.

In order for an alchemist your level to take 8 alchemy leves, they have to dip down into the 30, 25, and even 20 range. Harvesters can do the same thing, dipping into lower level leves to get all 8, resulting in extremely reduced or non-existent SP. The level 40 miner only have to do it with 2 leves, dipping into his r30s. However, the poor 40 alchemist often has to do it with upwards of 5 - 7, going as far down as into the 20s to fill his queue. See the point I'm making now?

However, this is an aside to the actual thread point, which is that harvesters should get their own leves independent of battle classes. It is just silly that they don't.

I will say in all honesty no I don't, but I didn't say I did all I said was I do use all 8 crafting leves. I level about 2-3 crafts at this time. Alchemy is obviously first on my list and I go to all three cities and get my 45's which are usually 3-4 leves. Cooking is my next and I go and get all the 30's I can out of that. If I still have leves left over I use that on what I feel like doing at that moment and get the highest leves for that class. I'm trying to get all my classes to at least 30 for subs by maximizing the most SP I can get with the highest rank leves I can get at the moment for my top 2-3 crafts I am focusing on. :)

And I agree that it is silly that gatherer's don't get their own independent leves! :D

The real problem here is that people aren't using the leve system as intended. Most people have a full 8/8 battle leves at all times because they always abandon them in order to keep the same ones each reset. Therefore it is detrimental to take gathering leves because you risk losing one of your good battle leves for a long time.

Once SE accept that the majority of people do leves this way, then maybe they will change it. It's kind of hard for developers to accept that the entire player base is exploiting the game mechanics all the time, because they can't do anything about it without either alienating the player base or suggesting that it's ok to violate the ToS.

Pure Crafting: = 8 leves

Well even if you go class wise, if you break it down there are 4 branches of classes:

DoW
DoM
DoL
DoH

... so if you go by the logic that there are less classes so its fair they have less leaves, would the people who play DoM (which there are only two) be happy if they were told they were going to get less leves due to the fact that there weren't as many classes in DoM as their are in the other three areas of classes so they didn't need as many as everyone else? No, they are given the same opportunity as DoW's to have 8 battle leves.

A class area should not be penalized just because there aren't as many classes within that area. Everyone should be given the chance to use 8 leves how they see fit. So even then, as I said, DoL are kinda ripped off because they only get 6 while DoH, DoW and DoM can still get 8 leves if they wish to do so and are penalized battle leves on top of it.

The math still doesn't work out for people who enjoy ranking up both Gathering and Battle Classes.

The real problem here is not the leves but the sp. unlike the rest of the classes the main way you should be getting sp is finding nodes and seeing what they have in an area. so id say we should get more sp for every thing we do not just leves

I agree. SP increased is is beyond excellent, but having separate NPC's for both Battlecraft and Fieldfcraft for players allows more options, more gametime, and encourages players to start mining for those Catalysts wit the Materia System coming.

Agreed, a rise in SP would be nice... I'd still like to see them separated from battle leves but if they raise SP all around the board I wouldn't have to do as many leves and could focus on the ones that just give me the botany guild marks that I need.

Heehee I still have fishing and mining to finish after this! XD

SE has already stated that it isn't an exploit because to do what you describe requires the sacrifice of both faction points and gil/item rewards. Regardless even if one did not leve cancel they could still easily get 8 battlecraft leves per reset. So other then trying to pass off something that has been stated is not an exploit as one, whats your point?

No reason Battlecraft and Fieldcraft should share leve amount cap.

I'd guess that maybe they don't want to just separate the DoL leves (assuming that "separating" them would mean that you can do up to 8 each of battle, gathering, and crafting) as that would just mean more gil coming into the economy from leve rewards. Of course they could just lower the rewards, but that would probably annoy people who don't have as much play time. And if them lumped the DoL leves in with the DoH instead, that would just annoy the people who level multiple crafts.

Personally, I think it'd be nice if you just got 16 leves per reset of any category you wished, but with a maximum of 8 per type (battle, gathering, crafting). But heck, as it is I can't do 8 rank-appropriate leves for any class except for my battle class anyway.

Since all classes are supposed to be actual, equal, full-fledged classes, it'd be nice if I would do 8 rank appropriate leves per reset for any given class. As it stands now, I can do that on my PUG or my CON, but not on my WVR or BOT.
